SofaPlay Lite allows you to play media files directly from your Mac on the tv. It connects your Mac to your Smart TV and takes care of the streaming. Just drag any movie file onto SofaPlay Lite and it will appear instantly on the big screen in front of you. SofaPlay Lite streams your video wirelessly to your TV.
No configuration needed, no hassle. Just drag and drop.
Your Mac is completely controlling and managing your TV and taking care of the streaming. Just lean back on your sofa, get some pop-corn and enjoy a movie, or two.
*** SofaPlay Lite allows unlimited photo and image streaming to your TV, but video streaming is limited to two minutes. ***
IMPORTANT: SofaPlay Lite is working with devices, which are supporting the UPnP/DLNA Digital Media Renderer standard. Fortunately, most of the new TVs are working with SofaPlay Lite. Also, there are a few supported Blu-Ray Players. If your device has a network connection (wireless or wired), there is a great chance it is supported. Ratings and Reviews
Seems buggy. Doesn’t play videos at all. Even <2 min.
This app recognized both my Samsung TV and my Xbox 360 and it was able to display photos, but it would not play any video at all through either device. I tried it with three different 1080p standard .mp4 files all taken by the same camera. These files played back fine on my computer. When I tried to play one of these videos through this app, it would sometimes display a message saying that this was a trial version and unable to play videos longer than two minutes. However, each video I tried was well under one minute. I tried adding the videos individually, or in a playlist with other videos, or with other videos and photos. I was unable to make it play videos at all.
My phone is able to play videos and photos with no issues on either the TV or the Xbox, so the problem must be with this app.
It also appears to be unable to use the standard controls on the TV or Xbox 360 to navigate between photos, but I didn’t test this extensively.
The app also seems to exhibit inconsistent, buggy behavior, at least from my limited testing.
The interface looks nice, but if the app doesn’t work that doesn’t really do it for me.
A pity it doesn’t work right– I probably would have just spent the $5 to upgrade to the full version if it had.
Fine, iTunes/Music support would be great
Worked great for music from my Mac. Would be really nice if it could access your Music library directly, instead of having to dig around on your hard drive for the files.
Great Solution
Our Xbox and Desktop CD/DVD players don't work and I wanted to watch a family movie on our TV. After confirming this app would work with our device, it proved to be a great solution.
