Not useful for me

I wanted an MPD controller replacement for the unloved mPad application but this isn't the one for me. The interface isn't intuitive even for an experienced MPD user and, after I figured out how to load my library, I found that the library needs to re-load from scratch every time I want to use the app. I learned from another user that this is not expected behavior, but it has been repeatable in my case. With a large collection, the re-loading can take a very, very long time, with the app unusable until the loading has completed. I also had some freezing issues and failures to recognize that I had configured a device. Further, album art doesn't display by default and I couldn't get it to display at all even after linking my music directory to the app in the settings.

The developer responded to a request for technical support. While he was willing to help me out, I think there is little he can do to help because the collection size is the limiting factor.

For smaller collections, this is an attractive app and probably useful enough once you figure out the setup. If you are a music hoarder like me, however, this isn't what you need. As there doesn't seem to be a preview version, you have to pay up front and hope that it works out for you. I have added a star to this review because the developer responded to my inquiry and made at least an effort to address the issues.

SETS VOLUME TO MAX

SETS VOLUME TO MAX ON STARTUP. UNUSABLE. UNACCEPTABLE!

Good App and I've recommended it to other BDP users. However, I can't get it to recognize my compilations properly which is annoying because I have many compilations in my library. A compilation shows up as a different album for every artist contained in a given compilation album no matter how I configure the App. I may have overlooked some configuration option??? By comparison the MPad App handles compilations with minor configuration.

I'd also like to ignore or at least not display genres when browsing by artists. The genre(s) is displayed under the artist name with that view. I realize that's my personal taste, but I would like the option to not display the genre.

This is a good App, but could be a 5 Star App with a few changes.
