If you want a quick way to burn some cash without hope of ever making a profit, invest with Start Engine. This is not a legitimate company. Definitely not a true securities company, which I understood going in. It’s a crowd funding company like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Go Fund Me.I invested in Start Engine early in their startup thinking it might be an interesting new method to invest in pre IPO companies. After five years none of the companies have gone IPO. So I finally gave up. I tried to divest and close my account. Nope. In order to close my account I have to sell my shares. Sell my shares? Purchase a nearly $300 membership. Strange but ok. Sell my shares. Nope, only specific companies are available to trade on the market. Close my account. Purchase a membership. I asked to delete my data. Purchase a membership. I said keep the money, I don’t need it. Sorry you need to divest. Which, guess what I need to do? Sell my shares which requires… Purchase a membership.Luckily I was suspicious from the beginning because of who started the company so I only lost a few grand. Do yourself a favor and invest in a fiduciary.

I love most aspects of this app and investment start up companies. However, I had to change my email and can no longer access my original account. I reached out to try to change the original email that I opened my account and unfortunately, I never received any response on how to do this. I used the same social security number and at least I can continue to invest but still unsure how to see my original investments. They should have an easy way to access accounts and change information when needed.
