TASCAM RECORDER CONNECT allows wireless control of the DR-10L Pro, FR-AV2 and AV4 on a smartphone or tablet. The app allows status and waveform monitoring from distance. The TASCAM RECORDER CONNECT is an app that provides remote control up to five units simultaneously. This app enables to check device status and view the recorded waveforms real time for operation confirmation. Names and colors can be applied to individual devices for easy identification. Also, Metadata (project name, scene name, take number) can be recorded in the recording file (BEXT, iXML). ※The AK-BT1/2 Bluetooth adapter (separately sold) is needed to be able to control the unit via the TASCAM RECORDER CONNECT app. For more information on how to connect AK-BT1/2 or how to use TASCAM RECORDER CONNECT, please refer to the instruction manual. ※This app does not support monitoring of the main unit’s input sound. To monitor this, please use the headphones output. Pointless without audio monitoring

Pointless without audio monitoring. Everything about the DR10L Pro implied it was designed to be monitored over Bluetooth. That’s why I bought this lav and the Bluetooth adapter. Why would I want to just view my waveform? And why would anyone monitor a lav wired? This is so bizarre.

The whole reason to have this app is to be able to hear the audio from the Tascam. Yeah, you can see the waveform but that’s pointless. If you can’t hear what’s going on, why would you have this app without the ability to hear the audio?

The UI needs work and the connection sometimes drops requiring restart. Also as others have mentioned, should support monitoring from the app.

New functions - The TASCAM FR-AV4 has been added as a supported device. - REC-LINK function has been newly added. This allows the user to select recording devices connected to TASCAM RECORDER CONNECT for synchronized recording operations. - A “NOTE” field has been added to iXML metadata for editing (FR-AV4 only). - Press-and-hold operations for the Stop button are now supported. Maintenance items - Operation stability has been improved in other ways.
