Description

TeraCopy is a utility designed to copy files faster and more reliably, providing the user with many features.

Be in control

In case of a copy error, TeraCopy will try to recover. If unable to recover in the worst case scenario it will simply skip the problematic file, not terminating the entire transfer.

Unnecessary files can be skipped to reduce the transfer time. During the process, TeraCopy shows detected errors and allows you to fix the problem by recopying only the problematic files at any time, even after a reboot.

File verification

TeraCopy can verify copied files to ensure that they are identical to the original. This is done by comparing the hashes of source and target files.

Import media files

Copy photos and videos from removable storage into folders by date taken. Type of files, source and destination folders can be customized for all or selected devices only.

Export reports

Save file lists with all related information as MD5, HTML, or CSV files.

Unstable abandonware?

Like others here, I've been using the Windows version for years and like it a lot. Also, like others here, I find the Mac version to be unstable--it's crashed several times while trying to transfer ~1TB between two external drives.

From what I can tell, the Mac version hasn't been updated since it was first added to the store. Has it been abandoned?

I'd give it 4 stars if it was reliable, but it gets 2 stars for the lack of attention to a common problem for over a year.

Disappointing

When it's doing its job it's a great piece of software. Unfortunately it crashes often. Fortunately you can resume what ever you started before the crash. One volume in particular I had to add to a task several times. It was smaller volume with sub 400GB on it, but there were tens of thousands of files. Another drive that had just over 400GB with only a few thousand files was handles flawlessly. In total I've offloaded around 6TB from several small drives onto one 10TB drive. It's unfortune that I couldn't get all the transfers started in one night and let TeraCopy do it's job. I would relaunch the software every night and again in the morning before work because of crashes. Thankfully you can resume, so I'm giving this app 3 stars.

Works when it works

Tera Copy works like a charm for PC. The Mac port is capable but unstable. It crashes randomly and for no reason, luckily, when relaunched it picks up right where it left off.

I used this to migrate a few terabytes of data and had to restart 4 or 5 times but in the end it was faster and safer than using Finder as it was millions of tiny files, so the verification was cruital.

All in all, this is one of the best copiers out there, I just wish they'd tighten it up some and maybe give the UI a little love.
