As a longtime TomTom user, I’m thrilled with the new TomTom iOS app. After switching between Google Maps and Apple Maps for years, TomTom has finally caught up and surpassed them in many ways. The routing is smart and efficient, offline maps work flawlessly, and the interface is clear and intuitive. Lane guidance and voice prompts are well balanced, making navigation smooth and hassle-free.One feature I’d love to see added is Apple Watch wrist vibration alerts for turn-by-turn directions, similar to what Apple Maps and CarPlay offer. It’s a great way to stay informed without looking at the phone.Great job, TomTom—I’m back as a loyal user!

Great tomtom navigation app

Overall, this is an excellent app for the iPhone, featuring TomTom maps and traffic data (also used by other apps), a very clear interface, and good routing. The small only issue is that on CarPlay, the navigation view is often more zoomed in, whereas on the iPhone it's almost always perfect. That is, on the iPhone you can see not only where you are, but more of where you're going.

Great Alternative to the Big Guys

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting this to be a good alternative to either Apple Maps or Google Maps, but this surprised me in a lot of ways. It works seamlessly well with Apple CarPlay, and if you need maps offline, this is great for it. My only gripe with it is it doesn’t work with the tri-split screen (the one where you swipe all the way to the left), which is a view I use fairly often when I don’t need the full map on screen. Perhaps that can come with a future update? Otherwise, an alternative nav app I would recommend.

App tells me to turn within just feet of my turn instead of ahead of the turn and ducks music all the time instead of just during speech. Doesn’t support the new half screen feature of CarPlay. It’s not quite bad but it’s definitely lacking in details like stop lights and stop signs. Also in certain areas the speed limits are extremely off (gave me 20 mph on a 40 mph road). Edits on TomTom’s website for things like speed limits are extremely cumbersome and slow so I can’t fix a whole city of wrong speed limits. 🤷‍♂️
