Description

Touch is a term used to alter the dates of files and folders. This app will alter the creation and last modified date and time of files and folders. It can even process inside folders.

You can alter both the creation and/or modified dates, specify your own date, or use randomly generated dates.

Good enough. Could use some polish but at least it works!

I’m importing pictures from the file system into a library in Photos on a Mac. I hate Photo’s “Adjust Date and Time” function because you can’t set a group of files with different dates to the same date — only relative dates. This utility is almost exactly what I needed — since my pictures were organized on the filesystem in folders by date, I simply use this utility to select all the photos in one folder and changed them all to the correct date. (Generally speaking, the creation date of the files had the date I uploaded them, not the date the picture was taken. Plus if I had duplicated a photo, it would have the wrong date on it, etc.)

No doubt it could use some polish:
1) It only lets you set the minutes from 01-59. “00” is not an option. I’d call that a bug.
2) A “remove all” button would be very helpful and can’t be that hard to add.
3) A bigger enhancement woiuld be to move the “specific time and date” settings from the preferences on to the main window, so you could just spin them and click the files you wanted to touch.

But it does the job (except for “00”) and was cheap.

UPDATE:
You can’t change the date to the “31st” of a month. It sets is to the 1st of that month instead.
Also, the “remove items from list when touched” option often results in the touch not working

Not quite what I was hoping for

I am looking for a utility that can touch a file from the Finder. I don't even know if this is possible in macOS. This utility requires you to open the app and drag and drop or add the files. It's probably just as fast to use touch from Terminal. Oh well.

The app crashes when saving Preferences in Catalina. The Preferences do save at least.

Very useful, when not crashing

This is an app that is great for changing the date and time stamps of files, without having to go into the command line and remember the syntax for the touch command nor type long paths for the target files.

However, while I can select individual files and it works well, when I select entire folders, even those with no more than two or three files or when I try to drag and drop folders it crashes instantly.

I am running the latest OS X and version of the program. So, when not crashing its great. But 50% of the time it just bombs out and crashes on folders. I hope the developer will fix this and update the program, because when it works its a very useful app, well though out with lots of selectable options, and well designed with an easy to use interface and good feedback when the file dates are changed.

Fix the crashing and I’ll be happy to update this review and it would be worthyt of another star.
