I just finished a project of over a hundred hours in which it was necessary to use a find-replace app to generate intermediate text between copying from a broken PDF and pasting to a new one. Transformator served as an indispensable link in this process.The strength of the app is the apparently arbitrary number of change cases which can be dictated (53 in my case). I have to state that the character recognition of the app is not perfect, and in about 5 percent of instances I needed to intervene by hand. Still, the project would have been impractical without an app of this kind, and I feel grateful to have had it.One thing about it that almost made me bail out in the first session is this: the entry of substitutions can be agonizingly slow. I mean you may have to wait several seconds for the substitution table to signal readiness for inputting the “to” character. As for the actual transforming of text passages, that part is almost instantaneous.

I like to text-to-speech articles on the internet to make reading easier and more enjoyable. The regular expressions feature of this program was exactly what I was looking for. It allows me to write powerful text-replacement rules so that articles can be read smoothly using the OS TTS function. For example, most websites have various text that is embedded in the article text (like photo captions) that I do not want read out. I wrote an expression to strip these character strings out.If the developer wanted to add features, I would suggest an audio export function to iTunes similar to the iSpeak It app.
