Photos are the main event

The app works and functions very well. The UI is developed using native swift ui components so it’s blazing fast and looks at home in iOS.

The app is a stream of photos and feels like it’s inspired by TikTok and other short video style apps where the UI gets out of your way and let’s the content shine.

There are a few quirks with the UX patterns, but I appreciate the unique approach.

The Pixelfed app we needed

Vernissage is elegant and functional. There are no distractions, the focus is photography. But, cleverly and soberly, we can tap to find a lot of customization and all the usual functionalities in other platforms. Posting through the app is easy and intuitive. If you have already found Pixelfed, you need this, and if you didn’t, you would be surprised. Pixelfed just got much more interesting to me after finding Vernissage.

Where’s the help?

I uploaded a photo & accidentally marked it as sensitive. I wanted to edit it so I can remove the sensitive designation. A community support blog said when viewing your photo to click the edit button. There is no edit button! There’s a settings button. My only option is to delete the photo & start over. I clicked on the “support” link on the App Store & it takes me to a bio about the guy who owns the app. This is the most un-user photo sharing app I’ve ever used. Pixelfed could learn something from 500pix , EyeEym, Vero, & IG. I also a msg about XL something text for vision impaired. What??? HOW do I turn it on??? Where’s the support???
