Description

Volume Reset is a menu bar utility that sets your Mac's volume to a predetermined level when you shut down or sleep your Mac. This can be handy for those who forget to turn their volume down before shutting down so as to not disturb others when booting up next time. Once installed, you can set the app as a Login Item so that you never have to worry about setting your volume again!

cause mouse problem

when i boot up my imac the mouse does not appear until after i have to manually logon using the keyboard. at that time the mouse comes back. From that point on it works as it should. Sound is reduced at startup. So fix the lost mouse and i will give you 5 stares

Solid!

Does what I need - mutes the volume on shutdown, thereby guaranteeing that the volume is mute on startup. I also use AutoMute to mute when connected to certain wifi. VolumeReset and AutoMute are great together, maybe you devs could work together.

The menubar icon takes up too much space - there’s too much whitespace on either side, and the icon itself is taller than every other menubar icon I have (and I have 16).

Possibly I don’t need to use SilentStart anymore since VolumeReset muting the volume at shutdown would prevent startup chime, but I have enjoyed SilentStart for years and will keep it on board.

So Simple

I really appreciate this app. I go from a private office to group meetings often, and I no longer have to worry about my laptop making loud noises during the meeting.

Update: still going strong. This is one of the most underappreciated apps around.
