Description

Dungeon time stops when you do: smite monsters cleverly, not by mashing buttons!

With over 350 different types of items to be found, you will keep finding novel solutions to battling over 170 different types of monsters that you will face on your journey! You have time to think, but this is no puzzler - you will have to fight your adrenaline and use your sword or staff as much as your inventory.

The procedurally-generated dungeon and vast array of possible items gives immense replay value. Some games you'll find a good weapon early, other times you'll rely on wands or potions, or some combination. Sometimes in sheer desperation you'll read a random unidentified scroll... will it be a scroll of fire that incinerates your clothes? Will it be a blessed scroll of teleportation for the ultimate escape?

If you have ever played NetHack, DCSS, etc, this game will show you a whole new form of the roguelike genre.

When you get good enough to survive to 300 feet, you will be asked to upgrade your character to access the full dungeon. This is a one-off purchase for each type of character (for example, the sorcerer and sorceress are a single type - Evil Mages). The whole game can be played with any character - you only need to purchase your favourite character(s). This can also be seen/purchased in advance under Options/Store.

Upgraded to a new device or iOS version? Just use the "Recover" button in Options/Store to get your character classes back.

My first ever review

This game is a lot of fun. You travel to the bottom of a deep dungeon in search of an amulet and then you have to make it out alive. Easier said than done. Be ready to die a lot (honestly it can be harder than dark souls at times) challenging, fun, and rewarding. You can run around feeling like a god, and then die in an instant because you made a mistake. It has to be said that I hope you don’t plan on playing a spell caster tho.. the dungeon is randomly generated so it’s never the same. Every time I play as a class that can’t cast spells I find about 3-4 spell books within the first 2-400 feet of the dungeon. But every time I play as a class that can use spells I almost never find a spell book. This makes getting your early level ups incredibly annoying at times as a spell caster. I just died 800 feet into the dungeon on my wizard, I found my first spell book at 700 feet, and it was wizard lock... a spell used to lock doors and utterly useless. I wish they’d patch the game making you guaranteed to find at least one offensive spell within the first 300 feet. All in all it’s a fun game that keeps you coming back to try again. Even if you do pull your hair out trying to play a mage.

The Roguelike I keep coming back to

I should mention I got into the original Rogue on a friend's 8088 DOS box back in the 80s.

Waz blends classic Rogue with modern visuals (the animations aren't the BEST, but they're more than good enough to keep you entertained and engaged), dark humor, and loads of originality. This game offers a blend of variety and randomness that makes for endless replayability—it's also really difficult! Just like the classics it pays homage to, don't expect to get far without practice, strategy, and a good dose of luck. I'm convinced the negative reviews were written by folks who didn't give the game a fair chance or simply don't enjoy (or aren't good at) the genre. Those who do will inevitably find themselves going back for "just ONE more try"... over and over again.

Best game!

I love how hard this game is.. I’ve played off and on (mostly off) for ten years and only beat it once.. I beat it when I played on my computer through Steam. So if you’re having trouble playing on your phone, try Steam because you can have slightly better graphics, and that alone may help you do better, but your also more efficient navigating your inventory. This will save frustrations, and you’ll actually utilize your inventory more which is the key to winning.
The reason for this review, and I can’t imagine Waz reads these, but something missing from this game is a ‘turn around’ action button. Especially when you’re playing a hunter, it’s difficult to turn around and gain line of sight with your bow when enemies are attacking. Cool
