One of the best things to do in Rotorua is to ride the Whakarewarewa Forest Loop. The Whakarewarewa Forest Loop digital story-telling and wayfinding app adds an exciting new dimension to this Great Ride. This interactive app uses Augmented Reality (AR), audio, video and visual signage to tell the stories of local Iwi (tribes) and other fun and interesting facts about the trails, forest and surrounds. Features: • Trail route guidance around the Forest Loop trail, including entrance points, toilets, water stations, food and drink outlets • Map with points of interest • Unique collaboration with local Iwi (tribes) Ngāti Whakaue, Ngā Hapū e Toru and Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao to bring their stories to life • Geo-located - scan image to access interactive stories and other content based on where you are • Collect game tokens for visiting each site, get the whole set • Download of content on install (so you don’t require connectivity while on the trail) • GPS wayfinding (when out of cell range) • Language options for Te Reo and English • Trail update notification and status • New stories and features added over time
