Massivist ,

Very helpful, but minor quibble

I do most of my writing in OmniOutliner before finishing it in Word.

Unlike Word, OmniOutliner has no word or character count, and this has been a bit of a headache for me.

wordCount solves this very well, as it lets me count words and characters in OmniOutliner.

However, one minor problem: Part of the drop-down menu (“Auxiliary Key Setup”) becomes non-functional if you choose the “Use dark menu bar and Dock” feature in El Capitan. Caused me a few minutes of confusion.

Basically great.

Great for Blackboard!

The university where I teach uses Blackboard, and this is perfect for quickly seeing a word count in Blackboard blogs, wikis, etc. This will cut chunks of time off this semester for me. Before, I was highlighting, copying, and pasting into MS Word to get a word count--and then deleting and starting over with each blog entry. This gives me an instant word count within the Blackboard application with just a keystroke and a click. With 40 blogs to grade at a time, 20 times this semester, this is a godsend.

Another thing: I had a question about the controls right after I bought it, and the developer responded to my question within a few hours. VERY nice. Thanks. This is a great app.

Such a handy and necessary app!

I think this is a great app. I got tired of having to paste things into word when using a different app (e.g. mail) and needed to know the word count. This happened to me a couple of times just recently and I thought, "There MUST be an app for that!" I found a couple in the app store but Word Count seems to work the best!. I had a little difficulty figuring out how to change the preferences and the developer got back to me within a couple of hours and even did an update of the app right away!
