I have been using yoyo to learn mandarin since around 2020 and am happy they've finally developed an app! The positive: App functions great & looks like the website. all the content is available on the app. I'm at an intermediate level because of the content (currently doing the upper intermediate course and the second character course). I love these courses because of the quick and clear explanations. A lot of info is covered; the information builds as you progress which is great because language learning involves rehearsal. I love the optional schedule for learning. Love the way the style of teaching changes as the courses get more challenging (more mandarin, interviews, and storytelling). I also love the quiz & flashcard features. Glad to see they included the downloads without having to exit the app. Areas to improve:The largest challenge yoyo faces is that it isn't the best for more advanced learners. I wish yoyo would create more advanced conversational courses (I believe one is already in the works and would like to know when it will be available). I would also appreciate more advanced character courses and additional comic/graded reader courses. Summary: Although there's room to grow for more advanced students, yoyo is excellent for beginner and intermediate learners (I'd say hsk 1 to hsk 4 or 5) due to the systematic framework and wealth of foundational & cultural information. The app is responsive and intuitive

Finally after such a long wait the app is here. I like that it gives complete access to all the features of the course including the audio reviews and flashcards. The course covers all areas of the language. The advanced conversational course would be a great addition. I have one suggestion that a Chinese character course III would be a great addition as well but that’s up to the course creators to figure out. The app was much needed as many people now a days prefer learning on the go, and since the yoyo Chinese lessons themselves teach through a micro learning approach with video lessons being the adequate length, the app will for sure boost productivity of the learners, well at least for me.

I joined Yoyo Chinese years ago and I wished at the time that there was a phone app. I returned recently and was ecstatic to find that there is indeed now an app (I didn't even know there was one in development). Moreover, the app is incredibly well done and works perfectly. Excited to dive back in!

This is so much more convenient than having to go through the web interface! Haven’t had any problems so far.
