PUBG Mobile’s massive battle-royale maps can be pretty daunting. But whether you go in solo or with a squad, these tactics will improve your chances of walking away with a delicious chicken dinner.

Stick the landing

So you’re in the plane, cruising over the island – where should you drop? Pick an area away from other players but not out in the open. If possible, land near buildings, which are where you’re most likely to find useful items.

Quite a view, but the faster you drop, the sooner you can start grabbing items.

Gear up

You won’t get far unarmed, so the first order of business is to grab gear: vests and helmets soak up critical damage. Health items keep you in tip-top shape. And remember, any weapon is better than no weapon at the start.

Keep your ears open

Sound is a powerful ally in PUBG Mobile. Turn up your speakers or slip on some headphones and you’ll stand a better chance at locating enemies as they search buildings or cruise around in vehicles.

Stop, drop and roll

Find yourself under fire but not sure where it’s coming from? Flee the scene and get behind cover to heal before engaging. Slinking across the ground is also a good tactic to avoid being spotted, especially if you’ve got some subtle camouflage equipped.

Taking a dip? Dive underwater to hide from unfriendly eyes.

Don’t zone out

The battlefield slowly shrinks over the course of a match. Keep tabs by tapping the map icon to bring up a white circle and a timer. You suffer damage if you’re caught outside the perimeter when the timer reaches zero, so keep moving. And if you’re in a red zone, run! Those temporary hot spots are targeted by random bombings that’ll quickly end your match.
