This app is great until, when watching tenplay on chrome cast, it ALWAYS displays a sign on the screen of my tv “still watching? Press play on your phone to continue” and the show will pause. Always in the last couple of minutes of the show. Even if I go into the tenplay app on my phone. Pause the show and then press play before the sign comes up, it still does. And when I do press play, the show will continue on with the sign displayed on the screen and the screen really dimmed. So I always struggle to see what is happening and miss the last minute or so of my show. So dumb! This only happens with the tenplay app. It never happens with any of my free to air, catch up tv shows. Just stupid old tenplay! So I reported the issue via the tenplay app about a week ago. No one from admin has bothered to contact me to let me know they even seen the issue I reported to them, and the problem is still happening. Very unprofessional and really irritating. I’d think I’d at least get an email from them saying that they are trying to work on it, or give me some troubleshooting tips... NOTHING!
I was really exited when I got this app to work. I could tell myself ‘hey, maybe it was just my phone all along!’ Or ‘maybe they fixed the bugs!’
Nope. While I can sometimes actually get through a whole episode now, if I’m lucky, it’s certainly a trial on my limited patience. EVERY SINGLE AD BREAK I have to hold my breathe and cross my fingers that it won’t freeze. Or that my show will continue after the ads eventually finish. And why oh why do they stick the ads on halfway through a sentence?! I mean, we know where the ads are meant to go, we expect them– don’t think you’re fooling anyone by starting the next scene, them shoving the ads in where they don’t belong. That’s just irritating, and I could even overlook it if it weren’t for all the other bugs we have to put up with.
Like, why, sometimes, after an ad break, and the obligatory glitches that come along with those, will my screen suddenly not go full screen? Who wants to watch a whole show with the tiny horizontal image? No-one, that’s who.
And those sudden blackouts? Yeah, I really wanted to just HEAR the show, who needs to actually see what’s going on?
And the all time favourite– when it streams two episodes at the same time, so you’re watching one episode, but can hear the other one (the one you gave up on because it wouldn’t play) in the background!
Come on guys, ABC and SBS have nailed this. I’d have thought with your budget you’d have at least made something watchable.
Buggiest app ever
OMG. This app has so many bugs I don’t know where to start. It always plays an ad at the start which is fine, except often the show never commences. So you load it up again and again and are tortured by the same ad in the hope that the show will commence. It doesn’t. If it does work I still have a message across the top of the screen that my show will recommence in 1 second and a Learn more button. This is super annoying when trying to watch something. Now let’s talk about casting. I had better success casting to Apple TV but every time it wants to play an ad during a show it cancels the cast and returns to the start of the program. This is insane. Please lift your game. I’m a shift worker who doesn’t get to watch what I want when it’s broadcast. These apps give me access to your programming. If you can’t get it right, I don’t watch. No wonder Netflix is so popular. I’ve never had an issue with it. I know I don’t pay for this, but I’m also happy to watch ads as long as it doesn’t stuff up the whole streaming process. I want to watch your stuff but you are making it so frustrating that I’m about to give up.
