Accounting App - Zoho Books 4+

I implemented Zoho Books as a part of Zoho One for my family business 18 months ago. The Books app is easy to use on the go, and the recent update has made it so much smoother. It has given us more time to build the business and has helped us double in the last 12 months. I would definitely recommend Books to anyone considering moving or implementing accounting software. It worked for us when we were small, and has heaps of capacity for us to grow.

Everything was looking great until I tried to link my bank account to this software.

Xero, QB, MYOB, all use Yodlee to link bank accounts. Zoho is the only interface where I need to go to a website that isn’t my bank’s website, and then give them my online banking ID and Password.

OH HELL NO!!!

Zoho’s terms and conditions even state that we do so at our own risk.

I called my bank and they told me not to do this. They said giving a third party my online banking credentials will invalidate my protections/security for fraudulent payments.

I tried contacting Yodlee to ask why their process with Zoho was different to their process for the other account keeping software, but the person I spoke to didn’t know anything about Zoho and couldn’t help me.

I have tried to manually import my transactions each month, but it’s just impractical as customer payments won’t be logged instantly like they would if I had true reconciliation. So payments don’t get marked as received until after I’ve manually reconciled everything.

The time I spend doing this is worth more to me than the cost of going with another vendor.

Such a shame. I love the features offered by Zoho, but banking security trumps them all.

We would like to inform you that the feature of connecting and fetching bank & credit card feeds via bank feeds provider is available in the Standard or a higher plans.
If you are in the Standard or a higher plan, Zoho Books uses an account information service provider - Yodlee.
Tapping on the ‘Connect Bank / Credit card’ button will take you to the page with a list of all the supported banks. After choosing your bank, a pop-up appears in which you can select the bank feeds service provider, and read and agree to the End User License Agreement to connect your bank.
After clicking on proceed, a popup from the bank feeds service provider (Yodlee) appears in which you are required to fill in your banking credentials. Please understand that we do not redirect you to any website other than the bank feed service provider you have selected (Yodlee’s) and that login credentials of your bank account are necessary for the bank feeds to be fetched into your account.
If your bank’s feeds are not supported by these providers, we request you to import bank statements manually. If you require any further assistance regarding this, please drop an email to ”support+mobile@zohobooks.com”. We would be glad to assist you.

I'm still in the progress of setting up Zoho Books, but from what I've seen so far, it is feature rich, as good as Xero, but a fraction of the price. It is approved by the ATO and is super easy to use. More importantly, the features within the menus are logically placed and easy to find. I'm very happy for what I get for the price, you really can't do better than this.
