The Air Remote Mobile Tethering App, from Tether Tools, has compatibility with Canon and Nikon cameras and is a free companion software for the Air Direct Wireless Tethering System and the Case Air Wireless Tethering System. Air Remote is a powerful and versatile camera control system providing seamless wireless communications. Transfer RAW or JPEG images from most Nikon and Canon cameras to iOS devices. Internet access is not needed, so shooting in remote locations is simple.
Control many of the camera functions and settings from your iOS device including live view, creative modes, auto-focus, aperture, shutter, ISO and more. Also, Air Remote adds features which may not be available in-camera like focus-peaking and touch focus.
Instantly review full resolution images as they are being shot or review images directly from the camera’s media card. Review images on larger and remote screens for composition, lighting and focus. Advanced Air Remote features include time lapse, focus stacking, bracketing, video and more.
Send images to the cloud for seamless backup or instantly share on online all within the Air Remote App.

Falls just short in an industry where details matter
To make decent hardware is one thing, but to create an accompanying app that upholds the brand? Dicey for any business, and the struggles are exemplified here with Air Remote.
Functionality-wise almost everything you’d need for client monitoring is there, including the ability to lock camera controls with a PIN code to prevent accidental changes by the client while shooting.
However, screen space is a premium on a 9-12” display, and the poor use of that space results in this app looking quite unprofessional on a shoot in front of a client:
The app is not natively designed for the many different iPad display sizes. It simply scales the one version for all sizes, which means that on any iPad large enough to use as a client monitor the interface panels and buttons are huge, bringing us to the other major issue…
The interface cannot be hidden. Honestly this app would earn back the two lost stars if I could just see the latest image and nothing else when needed. An option to hide the interface or individual strips of buttons is an absolute must for future versions.
These issues represent a lack of care for the user experience, and while some slack is to be cut for a company that’s known for brightly coloured cables and not the tethering software of multi billion dollar corporations, a creative professional wears these products as a part of their own brand, and may ultimately choose to protect that brand by choosing another solution.

Device + App works perfect on my D90. Allows me to capture things remotely and see it straight on my phone. They just need to update the app so it takes advantage of my iphone X screen size. Thanks!
Doesn't work. Very disappointed.
I emailed them before I bought the remote and they assured me it would work with my Nikon D200 and Olympus Pen Lite. It doesn't work with either. I have spent hours turning everything on and off and trying different cables. Total waste of money and time :(
