ALTER EGO 9+

After getting all the endings, I genuinely have to say that this app was great. They offer ads, but most of the time these are optional and worth watching considering the benefits you obtain from them. This is a story that tells the story of you and Es’s self discovery. The meaning of the story is completely up to you despite there being multiple endings. You could perceive them as good or bad or however you like. But be aware, your own self discovery will also influence Es, and her personality will shift accordingly. The clicker style of gameplay complements the tone and atmosphere of the game, as you are supposed to contemplate your choices while you gather up enough EGO to talk to Es again. This game’s themes and endings are strongly based on Freudian psychology, specifically, the building blocks of personality and decision making: Id (instinct, impulse and ideals), Ego (Reality, logic, and societal values), and Superego (morality, guilt and pride). I highly suggest you research these if you are trying to go for a different ending than what you got the first time but I EXTREMELY suggest going blind and not looking anything up the first time through, like I did, since the point of the game is self-discovery, and not following a guide to an ending. Overall, I highly recommend this app and recommend you play it through at least once if you don’t want to go for any more endings.

I have been playing this for a while now, and I am approaching the end of what seems to be the last ending. I’m writing this review to say how much I truly love this game. The first ending that I got (I believe it was called Impulse?) was beyond amazing. I did not see Es’s transformation coming. The storyline was executed extremely well and I felt the need to advance to the next ending.
The next ending was equally amazing, if not, even more. This one was called “Choose Conformity”, and it really shows Es’s hatred for Ego Rex, and her trust in me, the protagonist. It was yet another ending that I was not expecting, and now I am at what I believe is the last ending. I am incredibly excited to see what happens in this ending. The only thing I would like to add is, if this does happen to be the last ending, can you please add more endings? I am enjoying the game so much, and I really want more gameplay so that I can play some more!

This game was absolutely beautiful. The interactions with both Es and Ego Rex were interesting and captivating. I immediately fell in love with Es. The personality assessment is scarily accurate, and I felt confident with all of my results but one. And the endings? Fantastic. I was not expecting my first ending, but I assume that’s because a lot of my answers were neutral going in. I immediately replayed it hoping to change it, only to feel defeated after getting the second ending. It made the third ending very satisfying.

I will admit, it was a bit glitchy on my phone at times. However, I own a really old phone, and was rapidly tapping away. I will be recommending this to all my friends, and I suggest you do the same.

TL;DR: Play it. You’ll learn something.
