AUSWinds is the latest and greatest wind/weather application from P4G.
Designed for anyone who cares about wind in particular and weather in general. Whether you sail a yacht or a dinghy, go fishing, windsurf, kitesurf or just ride a bike this app is for you.
While we love the BOM's marine forecasts (and this app has all of them for Australia) we still find the best information is actual observations taken from the many BOM observation sites plus some yacht clubs. This way you get the best idea on what the actual conditions are.
The application takes this information and presents it either in searchable/sortable tabular data or on a map giving the user the best realtime view. Informative graphs are also available to help you understand the current trends and share with your friends via social media.

Since downloading iOS 13.1.2 I can’t get wind speeds when tapping the arrows in wind nearby
Swiss Army knife weather app
In a crowded app space, AUSWinds stands out from other weather apps by pulling lots of different elements into one space and providing a good overview. The highlight is the map overview ( top of opening screen) that shows wind data from all available BOM sites in the area. This not only shows what is happening in real time but also patterns across the sites; great for identifying an approaching front. The ability to dive in deeper is there by merely tapping on your preferred site. Improvements? Not many but a more sophisticated use of the prediction data might be nice eg a movable timeline. Nice to have but not essential in an already brilliant ‘all in one’ app. Kudos to the developers!
Great for viewing BOM data
App puts together all of the BOM data in a much more usable and accessible way than navigating the BOM website. Use it more than any other weather app for marine/sailing applications. Graphic representation of statewide wind stations great for keeping an eye on approaching fronts. Very useful.
