Backgammon is believed to have started in Persia, eventually finding its way to Britain with the Roman conquest in the 1st century and was played by Emperor Claudius who even had his carriage equipped with a playing board! It became such a gambling mania that it was declared illegal under the Republic.
Playing on the history of the game, there are 6 visually pleasing, rich board designs; Egyptian, Roman, Medieval, Victorian, Modern and Classic.
We also offer, out of the box, two classic game variations: “Old English” and Nackgammon. “Old English” is the most popular game variation in England. Nackgammon is a more challenging variation designed to add more creativity and skill to the game.
With integrated Bluetooth Peer-to-Peer support you can play with your friends over Bluetooth with no network required! You can also play against the computer in either Easy, Medium, or Hard difficulties.

Feels exactly like playing on a board
Always people to play against. Love plying it, mostly good people to play against, and can bypass those that are bad sports. Still the best app available. Has option to speak to other player, which is far better than others that allow abusive messages to be sent. Would only suggest shorter time allowed for others to move as some get stupid when losing.
A frustrating turn of events!
Initially a very good version but after the latest update had become a very frustrating situation. All of a sudden the computer scored an unrealistic amount of doubles and a statistically impossible roles when necessary. Altogether this is not very enjoyable anymore as you compete in an unequal situation. I had a series of games where the scores were just not statistically possible and this has continued. What the makers of this game need to change is the strategy, not messing up the idea of random roles which has obviously happened. Spend some time writing the software so it works properly or don't bother. It was my favourite game up until now but unless things change I won't be keeping it!
App has a bad bug - still not fixed!
I love this app, and have played literally hundreds of games against the computer. Unfortunately after a couple of games, an unwanted graphic appears in the wrong place on the screen of my iPad, (the pip scores), making the game unplayable. The only solution is to delete the app and reinstall, but it happens again after only a short time. It’s a pity this can’t be fixed as I like to keep track of my wins and they are deleted each time I re-install. It is however the very best backgammon app apart from this problem!
