Unstable

Before I go any further, I’d like to say that Beem_it is a great app that, until now, has been excellent to use and serves my needs really well.

Unfortunately, at the moment, the app tells me, after a few minutes use, that my session has expired and I need to log back in. I’m then confronted by a blank screen. I have no way of logging in. The only remedy seems to be deleting the app, reloading it and going through the entire verification process from email address to security codes. On occasion not even this works and you still have a black screen.

It may be a problem confined to me, but a remedy would be greatly appreciated.

A great start but flawed

Beem is great for collaboration spaces among roommates in terms of owing each other and limiting transactions. It works as intended and is simple to use! But it has a very obvious (to me) flaw that ruins the fun.

My roommates and I have bills, groceries and everyday spending (misc) that we pay for. I pay for most of the items and put it up on Beem for my roommates to pay me back. However, we like to track individual groups of purchases, ie bills and groceries separately. We have separate bank accounts for groceries, bills and everyday spending. I would love to have separate card defaults for different groups. That way, we can group our bills, groceries, everyday things in different places and not have to move money over from account to account every time we get paid money via beem. The amount of times I’ve had money paid back for bills into my groceries account (what we primarily use Beem for which is why it is my default card) and I’ve *almost* not noticed and been short for bills is astronomical. Having different default cards for different groups, or saying “Person has paid you $X, what card do you want it on?” would resolve all of this and make the app a million times better.

I love Beem because I don’t have to worry about the “you owe me X I owe you Y” stuff. But having added options to this for different thinking will only boost the app and make it more user friendly.

App doesn’t quite do what it’s intended for

The concept of the app if great, however it doesn’t quite fully fulfil its intended purpose. I have a number of groups set up in BeemIt for different things (friends, family, work friends etc). What I’ve found BeemIt to be lacking is the notifications to users whom have payments owing to others. Time after time, I’ve had to make that awkward message to remind others about payments outstanding. This includes when it’s been 3-4 weeks after the initial expense had been entered. I thought the app would do that itself, as intended, and as advertised so we don’t have to make the awkward contact.

This doesn’t fault how the app works in calculating split expenses, and evening it across the group to minimise the number of transactions made. That’s all great and it saves us having to do the math ourselves. But still, the app is really lacking in this space and I believe a lot of users would benefit off an update in this area.

Hey there, thanks so much for your feedback about reminders when using Groups. We will pass on your comments to the rest of the team and hope to get rid of those awkward reminders in future! If you have any other thoughts please don't hesitate to reach out to us by emailing support@beem.com.au as we'd love to hear them.
