Description

Bitwarden is the easiest and safest way to store all of your logins and passwords while conveniently keeping them synced between all of your devices.

Password theft is a serious problem. The websites and apps that you use are under attack every day. Security breaches occur and your passwords are stolen. When you reuse the same passwords across apps and websites, hackers can easily access your email, bank, and other important accounts.

Security experts recommend that you use a different, randomly generated password for every account that you create. But how do you manage all those passwords? Bitwarden makes it easy for you to create, store, and access your passwords.

Bitwarden stores all of your logins in an encrypted vault that syncs across all of your devices. Since it's fully encrypted before it ever leaves your device, only you have access to your data. Not even the team at Bitwarden can read your data, even if we wanted to. Your data is sealed with AES-256 bit encryption, salted hashing, and PBKDF2 SHA-256.

Bitwarden is 100% open source software. The source code for Bitwarden is hosted on GitHub and everyone is free to review, audit, and contribute to the Bitwarden codebase.

Pretty much leaves competition for dead

No ads and a cheap premium version, plus of course it works, striking a good balance between security and straight up annoying inconvenience. A few minor quibbles but while not as fancy as 1P and not the integration of LP, is my preferred manager over these 2, even when the price issue is removed (and it is heaps less than the overpriced 1P). Found it works far better over multiple devices/platforms than any other PM I have tried.

On my wishlist would be third party templates for non US store cards and ability to scan in card details (may have these, I'm no power user). Not sure if any PM has this anyway. I have not regretted the small Premium user sub yet.

Effective password manager

I compared the major options carefully before choosing Bitwarden. Trialled the free version for a couple of weeks, then paid the minimal price for Premium to unlock its full advantages.
Importing from Keychain (in my case) is straightforward, although I perhaps had an advantage that I could script some cleanup routines in the transition rather than tackling duplicates, unused or unsatisfactory passwords in either tool Bitwarden has some tools for it though.
There are disadvantages to crowd-supported tools, like not every personal favourite feature being there today, but Bitwarden deserves its high ratings, is worth the Premium purchase, does its job well on MacOS and iOS.

Fantastic app with a strange quirk

I've used Bitwarden for a long time to manage passwords and its the best out there. One strange quirk you may run into is that Safari will just not recognise the extension in the browser. I've found the only way to fix this is to download the "Safari Technology Preview". You don't have to use it, but having this installed on your machine will fix this weird quirk. Otherwise, this is the best password manager out there.
