The BOM radar is an absolute lifesaver for anyone wanting to keep an eye on the weather, and I can’t recommend it enough. I love being able to see exactly when rain is coming and plan my day around it. The radar updates frequently, showing clear and detailed images of rain clouds moving in real time. Whether it’s light showers or a heavy downpour, I can quickly check the app or website to see what’s happening around my area. It’s especially helpful for those days when I need to head out, and I can time it perfectly to avoid getting caught in the rain. The colour coding makes it easy to tell the intensity of the rain, and the animations are smooth and reliable. It’s like having my own personal weather assistant. For anyone who works outdoors, commutes, or just enjoys staying informed, the BOM radar is a game-changer. It’s accurate, easy to use, and has become a tool I rely on every single day. Five stars without a doubt!
Totally recommend it

I started using this app in 2019. I got this app from a recommendation by my friends because the other apps aren’t always trustworthy. This app comes straight from the government and you can totally trust it. The only thing I would add is to make an app without internet. For example I went camping lately with no wifi. There was no service and I couldn’t see the weather. This really annoyed me because I needed to know if it was gonna rain or not. To see the weather I had to get in the car and drive like a long time which I obviously didn’t do. If it is possible please fix this. Even if it is just the temperature it would be great. 👍🏽 anyway this app is awesome and it is probably the app for weather no cap. So if you are looking for an app that tells you the true weather look no further, you’ve found it. 👏🏿
Accessibility with VoiceOver
TM@Sally's
As a blind voice-over user, I found the old app reasonably accessible and really only want to check temperatures, humidity, wind, rain and basic forecast information. The new app seems to be as accessible as previously and I do like having hourly forecasts. However, the initial screens for setting up are totally inaccessible and I had to turn VoiceOver off and get my wife to click continue and access the choose location dialogue before I could gain any sort of access. Also, there must be some sort of Alt-tag or something that voiceOver detects when checking the hourly forecasts(Which is not visible on the screen). For instance, from 7 pm this evening, every hour is mostly sunny all through the night and tomorrow. 6 pm and earlier had a 20% or greater chance of rain whereas it is 5% or less from 7pm. In this day and age, I think all blind technology users would hope and expect developers to be on top of accessibility issues and test new releases with screen readers etc. I hope these matters can soon be addressed. With thanks - Tom

Presentation increasingly confused

Recent changes have not improved this app. The opening screen is confused and complex. It is designed to show you great detail of what the weather is now (which I can see for myself) and in the coming hours (which may or not be my reason for using the app). I would like an opening screen that just shows a concise summary of the next 7 days, including today. This allows easy comparison between days and illustrates trends … again, including today. Allows me to judge when to plan certain activities, whether it would be better to wait until tomorrow or in 4 days time. Click on any day and you get the gory detail, but INCLUDE some graphic device to keep you solidly oriented as to where you are within that 7 days. The latest attempt to indicate rain likelihood is the worst yet. I understand the difficulty in expressing rain likelihoods, but the latest method is technically weird and casually confusing. Here’s tomorrow’s:“High chance of no rain. Medium chance of no rain…”Well make up your mind, which is it?“Low chance of less than 1mm”Um … given there’s a high chance of no rain at all, you would think there’s a very high chance of less than 1mm, not a low chance. I get what the intent is but these statements end up being contradictory and completely confusing. It’s impossible to get any feeling for what such statements actually mean, how to react to them. Surely “10% chance of rain, 0-1 mm” was far more usable, shorter, and clearer?I’m looking for an alternative app.
In this release, rain notifications and hourly UV forecasts are now available. You can get notified when rain is approaching, for up to 3 locations. It’s also easier to swap between rain and warnings on the map.
