Bosch PRO360 17+

I think it’s been amazing to be able to keep track of all my tools and add dates to help with warranty’s as well as insurance needs.
I don’t think I quite know just yet how valuable and useful this app really is but I’m sure it’ll help in the future.

A lot of my tools have product and serial numbers the app does not recognize because a lot of my gear is old. It does mean that there’s not much point in this app.

… and, (following a response to the above review from the Bosch Pro360 team) I *know* that I can register my tools manually, declare a location, add notes or invoices (if I still had them after so many years) etc. I have already explored the app. But, again, what really is the point? I know what I’ve got, and where it is. The invoice is irrelevant after so many years.

If the app does not recognise a serial number (a Bosch serial number!) then I could “register” *anything* manually… even my dog.

I was hoping the app would help me locate spare parts for my tools but, partly because they are “not recognised”, it doesn’t.

My suggestion is that the app needs an upgrade so that the serial numbers of all Bosch tools are recognised, even if they are 20 years old. Then add a link to the spare parts for each specific tool (or to a page that says “sorry this product is no longer supported”). Otherwise it’s not so much 360 as 180.

Really the main benefit of the app as it is, is for extending the warranty on newer tools.

I suppose it’s a good news story really: I have tools over 20 years old still going strong! If they are all like that, who needs a warranty?

Hello DonkeyMan, if the scan does not work, you can also register your tools manually and thus keep track of your inventory. PRO360 offers you many other functions besides the scan. For example, you can record the locations of your tools and add individual notes to them, upload their invoices and much more. Easy enough to get info inputted to get the extended warranty. Just seems finicky with the camera at times and doesn’t focus (not something I’ve noticed on just the camera) & other times seems to have a very clear picture but doesn’t register. Have to close the scan window & try again, just doing the try again after it fails gives the same lack of focus.

We are continuously improving our registration, but please note that the recognition depends on other external factors:
lighting conditions, resolution of the smartphone camera and movement with the smartphone camera.
At the moment, it usually helps to change the lighting conditions a bit, possibly hold the camera further away
or closer and try the scan again.
