C25K® is the easiest program to get beginners from couch potatoes to 5K distance runners in 8 weeks.
The proven C25K program was designed for inexperienced runners who are just beginning. The plan's structure prevents new runners from giving up and challenges them to continue moving forward. C25K works because it starts with a mix of running and walking, gradually building up strength and stamina.

I’ve been using this app on and off for years. As life and commitments change, my fitness often gets put on the back burner or reaches its peak depending on what’s happening. I know I can always reach for this app and start training again. There is always the argument that running isn’t the most optimal exercise you can be doing, but nothing improves my mental health and cardio fitness in the same way. So while I’m still able to come back and put my running shoes on, I’ll always be coming back to C25K. I’ve gotten 3/4 of the way through the 10k too, but then caught Covid for the second time and had to start over again due to some heart problems it gave me. I hope to get back there again soon. Very reliable app.

Pretty great but can’t hear the commands well
isa.her
I like this app most out of a few I’ve tried because it’s simple and straightforward. My only problem is I sometimes don’t hear the beeps and the start/stop running notifications if I’m listening to a podcast or something while running. I’ve noticed when I have the app open (ie my phone is in my hand and I’m in the app) then the commands are at the same volume as whatever else I’m listening to and I can hear them without a problem, but if I have my phone locked and in my pocket while running they’re much fainter and I often miss them so end up just guessing when to start/stop running or I have to stop and check which is a bit inconvenient. Would be great if the commands played at the same volume as music/podcasts! I wouldn’t mind missing a few seconds of whatever I’m listening to for the commands to be heard.
Voice commands could be louder

I’ve returned to this app after a long break and it’s excellent for getting a slug like me moving. The incremental build up of endurance is excellent and it doesn’t shout commands at you all the time. That, in fact, is it’s only drawback. I listen to comedy podcasts via a podcast app and have this on in the background, yet I sometimes can’t hear the prompts clearly enough. I never used to have this problem, so either I’ve changed or the app has. I would still highly recommend it, however
Stick with the free version

Don’t bother upgrading to the paid app if you just want to access to the music. You can’t shuffle the playlists. You can only skip songs 6 times per an hour, so if you are using the same playlist each run, you’re stuck with listening to pretty much the same thing each time (i.e. You can start at Song #1 or Song #7).Also, if you’re wanting music to help with your running cadence, the playlists all have the same listed BPM as 130 (even if the playlist is called “Workout 170” has a listed BPM of 130) which is way too low for safe running. The BPM of the playlists I’ve listened to are also all over the shop, actually making it harder to have a consistent cadence.
