Calcium deficiency is common, especially if on a vegan or milk-free diet or if pregnant or breastfeeding. It results in weakened bones and teeth prone to fracture (a break), weakened muscles with muscle cramps and spasms, dry skin, and brittle hair and nails. This app can help you avoid calcium deficiency.
Based on your age and sex, the app will set your daily calcium target as recommended by the US Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025. You can change this target at any time.
Record the foods & drinks you consume using the barcode scanner (if in the US or Canada where calcium content is required on the Nutrition Facts label), dictation, by favoriting foods, or using Search and use the serving sizes provided, which can be changed at any time.
Your progress towards your target daily intake will be shown on the dashboard in real-time.
You can also view your progress over time on the Month view dashboard, and export food diaries and calcium intake into a spreadsheet for your own information or to share with healthcare providers.
Synchronize with other First Line Medical Communications Ltd nutrient counter apps to share data between the apps.
Apple's HealthKit functionality is integrated in the app's user interface so you can share data with Apple's Health app.
The app’s 328-item curated food and beverage database shows all 312 plant-based foods in green type to help users consume the 30+ different types of plants per week recommended by experts for a healthy gut microbiome.
Users can also add their own foods and recipes to the app.
Nutritional information is provided through the Info tab.

Save your money

The food database in this app is too small. Of the first 10 foods I searched for, only 2 were available in the database. Even common foods such as soy milk, baked beans and sourdough bread are not listed. I should have saved my 3 bucks.

Developer Response ,

The app has been redesigned using new Apple technologies and now has a barcode scanner, but the United States and Canada are the only countries requiring manufacturers to provide calcium content in the Nutrition label, so the data may not be available elsewhere in the world using the barcode. This is why we also provide a 325+ database of unbranded foods and beverages so that users in countries other than the United States or Canada can find a best fit, and also an "Add food" tab for users to add in their own foods to the database if they know the calcium content. We constantly improve the app as new technologies evolve and new information becomes available. Once you have bought the app, you get free upgrades, you are not required to register, your data are not collected, additional payments are not required and there is no advertising. We will soon be providing App Previews on the App Store to provide guidance on how to use the Settings tab to set your preferred units for weights (g or ounces) and for amounts of nutrient (in terms of weight or % daily target) per serving and per weight unit, and how to record your intake by dictation, search and favoriting. This guidance is also provided in the "How to use the app" instructions included with the app.
