What’s New
Version 1.3.1
Mostly bug fixes, with a few tweaks:
- New icon on welcome screen
- Fixed bug on initial conversation not working after install
- Fixed a few other bugs to hopefully make it more stable
- Removed "Regenerate" button when there are no messages in a chat
- Removed decimal places for token count in conversation settings
This bug took way too long to track down, but now that I did, hopefully I can move on to adding more functionality.
Ratings and Reviews
Almost perfect!
Way better than the other apps. No subscription fees, just bring your own API key. Important to note that ChatGPT+ subscribers cannot use the ChatGPT 4 API here however it is possible on the official chat.
Hopefully a better explanation between the two different prompts can be provided.
Great Choice for ChatGPT API Access
After some initial teething issues where my API key wasn’t accepted and I couldn’t start my first conversation due to a bug, I haven’t had a single issue.
Unlike most other apps which are trying to capitalise on the AI hype with excessive subscription fees, hidden costs and ads, this app is extremely transparent. You pay for the app, then pay the API usage fees to OpenAI (which are pretty low, and they have features to limit your spending to a dollar a month for instance)
The app does a good job of estimating how much your conversations are costing, and also provides a direct link to your usage on OpenAI’s website.
It was a bit finicky to set up and a lot of people have been confused by the API access versus a ChatGPT subscription, but it is a great app.
API key error
I cannot get this to work. All API keys i use always come back with 429 error and the keys are good and my account on chatgpt is subscription.
I love the app gui but it’s a 1 til I get this working obviously

Sorry about that.
This app does not require “ChatGPT Plus”, and actually having it doesn’t benefit this app at all because this app uses OpenAI’s API, not their web interface —which are separate products.
But that is actually one of the main benefits of this app. You can have quick and reliable ChatGPT access without paying the $20/mo. for the “Plus” subscription! The API pricing is MUCH lower, and should only cost pennies a month for casual usage.
So, you will need to setup a payment method with openai to utilize the API that this app depends on.

It should work after that, but I agree it’s a tad confusing. I have added some help text for the next version to hopefully make it less so.
