Please Note:
1) Currently, as per government norms, foreign nationals from countries on the FATF list and FATF grey list are not permitted to use the app.
2) Due to regulations, Cheq app can only be used while you're within Indian borders. Our servers detect your current location and restrict transactions being initiated from outside Indian borders.
3) You need to complete the in-person verification process by either visiting our partner branches or booking an agent.
4). Documents required are
Foreign nationals (Passport, a valid Indian Visa)
OCIs (Passport, OCI card)
NRIs (Passport, valid foreign country ID)
5) Payments can only be made to registered merchants. Individual (P2P) payments are not permitted

UPI for tourist, still a nightmare
This is a criticism of Cheq. I’ve been travelling around India for a year living of mostly cash and sometimes my AU card on swiggy etc WHEN it wants to work. I signed up for this because I want the reliability of a local payment option but the complete failure on cheq’s side is their using a local payment processor in razorpay to allow users to top up the wallet. If razorpay worked we wouldn’t really need this wallet. Total short sighted product strategy. Maybe 1/10 attempts to top up my account work across a range of different cards and banks from AU even with the cards greenlit for overseas and they work at atms, restaurants here etc. If you hadn’t had to live the hell of not being inside the UPI system for a year whilst trying to travel you’d just think this is a bad joke but for me it’s a nightmare and I’m going back to cash for reliable transactions.
