- We have added a dark "Green felt" theme.
- Dark mode is now supported throughout the app (the dark mode option is located in your device's "Settings" app, and applies to all apps).
- A crosshair (reticle) shows your finger's exact position for better accuracy when moving pieces. You can enable it or disable it: look for "Show crosshair" in the Settings page.
- Macs with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3...) are now better supported.
- We have fixed an issue with unresponsive menus in recent iOS versions.
- We have fixed a few bad moves in the opening book.
- The app is now fully translated into German.
- This update includes a large number of other minor improvements and fixes that make the app much nicer to use.
Ratings and Reviews
Beats GnuChess hands down!
I've dabbled with Gnuchess on and off, but this is superb. I particularly like the "hints" facility as I haven't played serious Chess since I left school (mumble) years ago, and I'm starting to realise why certain moves were made etc. I don't think that I'll be able to use any newer versions as this iPad 2 is stuck on iOS 9, but I do have plans to move to a newer one. All in all, it's the best Chess program that I've ever used.
One thing missing
I love chess variants and you should add them to there (eg: 3 check where you have to check the opponent 3 times to win, king of the hill where you have to get your king to the middle to win, or even a
combination of both)
Great coaching tool
After a few minutes of setup this becomes the perfect learning tool. Find the right level AI to challenge, hide suggestions until you need them, review your game moves. And no ads!!
