Such a great period tracker

I started using Clue when I had to go off the pill, and was trying to predict when my period would arrive. It made it much easier to see what was happening, and helped me understand my body better. It was an invaluable resource for tracking my fertility when we were trying to conceive, and I missed being able to use it when I was pregnant!
I would recommend this app above all other period trackers.
If there was one improvement that I wish you could make, it would be to implement pregnancy into the app. Even just to be able to tell the app you’re pregnant, so it doesn’t expect you to input data about period for a number of months would be great. Although it is good that when I’ve opened it up after 11 months that it understands that that time wasn’t one long cycle. It would be great to be able to input that you’re breastfeeding, and be able to use information such as birth date etc, so the app knows to expect various different symptoms (and probably not a regular cycle) for a time afterwards.

Please listen to what we are saying

Please, I beg of you, instead of making us pay for content we used to be able to access for free, add new features that users can opt to pay for. It is not fair to those of us that make so little money and already have to spend a lot of that on menstrual products (and doctors appointments if you’re like me and have endo / PCOS). I understand as a micro business owner that businesses need to make money, but there are other ways you can go about doing that in a sustainable fashion, and you’ve been informed of this by many other customers already. So please listen to us if you actually care and maybe try and take what we are saying into consideration. Try something new.

Update regarding the response: You cannot say you care about your user community when a lot of us can no longer afford to actually use a lot of the basic features of this app. Your response makes it clear you have no interest in even trying to look at other avenues so that those of us who are not very well-off financially can see things like our analysis, or track more than one symptom without a pop-up coming up. Have you even tried asking charities or the government regarding funding? Or explored any other methods at all? Perhaps instead of trying to defend what’s going on, maybe actually look into what your users are saying and give other methods a go. Then I might believe that you care about your users that can’t even to see a gynaecologist regularly.

Developer Response ,

Hello there, thanks for reaching out. We’re sorry to hear the app experience hasn’t been what you had hoped for lately. It’s true we’ve been focusing more on Clue Plus features, and the advertising of our premium subscription. To put it simply, this is because Clue needs to make money to become a sustainable business and remain impactful. We deeply care about our user community, which is reflected in how we make money. The only thing we sell is Clue features in the app (unlike some other companies). This is because we’re committed to never selling your data, or showing ads from other companies in our app. For more about Clue’s approach to making money, you can read on here. With that being said, we understand you’re disappointed about previously free features now becoming paid features. If you’re not interested in subscribing to Clue Plus, there’s still many ways you can use Clue to track your cycle and learn more about your body. You can use predictions and reminders to know when your period is coming, plan ahead with the Calendar View, log a huge range of experiences with tracking, and have your cycle statistics on hand for when you visit your healthcare provider. We also understand you're disappointed about the idea of an app making money off something like menstruation, which is an experience women and people with cycles cannot avoid. We totally agree healthcare should be free, and recognize that female health is chronically under-funded, under-researched, and under-served. Which is why we’re working in this field, to spur change. But the awkward truth is that creating innovative technology requires proper funding. Governments and charities do not have a great track record of funding femtech, and an even worse one of trying to build it themselves. So that’s why we’re working to become financially sustainable, by doing things like offering premium features with Clue Plus, to continue our work in moving female healthcare forward.

Good but for me it desperately needs a journal

This app is really simple to use and has a great visual circle to show where abouts you are in your cycle which is nice.

It also has a nice information helper as well with pictures you can click on to track how you’re feeling, if you felt like eating or if you slept a lot etc. on one hand I like this because it helps keeps things uniform and easy to track and on the other hand I can’t stand it because it keeps things too uniform and there is no where to add extra details if something else is effecting your health. For example I might be sick this week or I might be more tired then usual due to work picking up or being more active then normal. I think it would be really nice if there was a way to write down extra details like that. Perhaps you could make it so people originally write the journal entry in the regular symptoms detail entering place then it shows up in the calendar with all the rest. Perhaps have the journal entries primarily show up in the zoomed in one column, daily calendar page. Perhaps have the first sentence or a few sentences of the journal entry be visible under the symptoms to keep it compact but with the ability to click on them to view/create larger journal entries.

Overall I really like some aspects of the app but I feel like the inability for the user to add detailed information could really hurt it. It’s something that has made me consider changing apps quite a few times.
