What’s New

Version 2.18

• Fixed bug where first and last page of a pdf archive would be broken.
• Fixed a crash where an archive containing file names with very large numbers would lead to an integer overflow.
• Brought back feature to not identify the file type by its uti but rather by its magic bytes. This helps if the file is named *.cbz when it is a *.cbr instead.

Excellent comic book reader

I had been a long term user of Cloudreader for its very simple structure and ease of grouping files by tags. With Apple’s move to 64-bit apps only I have graduated to Comic Book Viewer as the best replacement that has user controlled grouping of titles and a nice clean ad free interface or overly complicated setup.

A few wishes to make it perfect would be that once you tag files into groups that they consistently sort by file name so that issue order is maintained (presently it puts some out of numerical order despite a consistent file name across issues) and for file names being visible when opening and edited (can’t see the name in full) to fix sorting issues manually.

I noticed the smart lookup from Comixology, handy for extra info if you want it though wasn’t shoved in your face all the time. Thanks.

This is a great free app and many thanks to the developer.

Could Not Upload via Airdrop but Great Overall

“AirDrop available” - No further info.

After dragging and dropping on iTunes then refreshing, the PDFs came up. I’ve been using it since then and it’s very clean and easy to use.

Also the developer is very helpful, friendly and tends to touch base with users experiencing difficulty...+1 for service!

Feature request -
Swipe through between documents, ie. end of issue 1 (PDF #1) continues onto issue 2 ( next document in line EG. PDF #2) without having to exit ad relaunch.

Keep it up dude! Thanks for a great app!

Developer Response ,

Hi Benj string soul, thank you for your feedback. I am not sure what you have tried so far, but for the sake of completeness, here you will find the relevant knowledge base articles on how to transfer files - iTunes file transfer: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201301 and AirDrop file transfer: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203106 . In case you’ve already tried that, the file might be corrupt, since this will prevent it from showing up in your library despite of being copied. If you suspect that’s the case, could you please send me a copy of the file to comicbookviewer@icloud.com to help me analyze the problem? - DerJegge

Would recommend

This is a surprisingly great app, simple to use, no adds, no sign ups, tons of sorting options. I would recommend it to all comic book readers.
