Cricut Design Space 4+

I have a hate/love relationship with the Cricut Joy 🥹 It’s probably the app itself but holy moly I have to keep getting up and down to the power cord to switch it off to release the paper/vinyl then switch it on again to use it. The app freezes all the time and there is no way to cancel the print unless you close it and then start again! A lot of the images it has you can’t do as it keeps telling you “it’s incompatible” and then you have to try and work out how to fix the problem. When you finally get the machine going, you put the paper/vinyl in and the unit will tell you “not enough paper/vinyl for a 3” job and you have at least 6” in and the correct width (Cricut vinyl/paper for the Joy) and after about e attempts it finally works. So you see a definite love/hate relationship with the Cricut Joy.

Your community of Cricut users are deeply upset at the announcement of your shockingly anti-consumer policy of limiting DesignSpace uploads for users who do not subscribe to Cricut Access. Your customers purchased \[not inexpensive\] Cricut machines with the explicit understanding that while they *could* subscribe to Access, they did not *have* to. This policy update fundamentally changes the functionality that one can get from their Cricut machine unless they decide to take on a monthly subscription after your users have already purchased their Cricut machines under the previous policy. This is akin to a slap in the face to the customers that have bought into the Cricut ecosystem, Access subscribers or otherwise. Frankly, it also irrevocably damages the trust Cricut users used to have in the Cricut brand and platform. Limiting cloud uploads would be one thing, but by limiting local uploads as well, you are artificially handicapping your product after the fact simply because you’ve decided that you would like to exploit your past customers for yet more revenue.

But you don’t even need to worry about damaging trust and/or hurting your customers’ feelings—conducting business this way will make each and every up-to-now loyal Cricut user think twice before spending money on additional or new Cricut machines now that they know the terms of using said machines can be fundamentally changed at any time.

We urge you to reconsider.

The app is pretty basic, but gives you access to a lot of pre-made content and fonts which is extremely helpful. It’s also great that you can preselect the cutting pressure just by adding what type of material you’re using, I couldn’t do that with another cutting machine I once had - everything had to be guessed manually. That said, bookmarked elements remain, even after I’ve removed the bookmark, changes I make to my preferred materials don’t stay and I’m constantly having to update the app which gets frustrating. Another issue with Design Space is that it freezes consistently when trying to load a project to cut and you have to quit the app at least twice in a row, reload the project to cut etc and then you can eventually cut. Not great given one of the Cricut slogans is to make quick projects :( This is a known problem by Cricut users and the frustration is most definitely real - come on tech team, let us know how and when this fix will come please!
