Description
CT scanning is a common investigation in critical care and emergency medicine. A thorough understanding of the appearance of common pathology is important. This app covers a broad range of frequently seen diseases seen in this context, and is essential for any trainee or consultant in the critical care and emergency environment.
This app displays scan sequences in high definition. Scans can be "scrolled" through, giving viewers a 3-dimensional understanding of the structures displayed. Users can review the scans after reviewing the clinical context, then continue to review the scan while listening to the radiologist's report. Each study contains a tutorial on the pathology demonstrated.

Ratings and Reviews
Great app for refreshing skills
I was pleasantly surprised by this app. I've tried a number of radiology interpretation apps that have promised much but had little substance.
The app covers a terrific array of common cases in critical care, and the tutorials add significantly to the educational value of the app. The graphics are just fantastic, and the interface certainly makes it easy to get a feel for the 3D anatomy. I particularly like the ability to listen to an audio review of the case while still looking at the images. This is reminiscent of sitting beside a radiologist reviewing the films together.
It would be good to have examples of normal anatomy to compare the images to, something that could perhaps be added to the next update?
I can see another version of the app demonstrating paediatric cases, or even MRI.
Overall, thoroughly worth the relatively trivial cost, given a text book of similar quality would probably be 10 times the price. I look forward to the next edition!
Critical care CT app
Great app with pertinent core critical care cases. Impressive range of images. Excellent format for iPad with easy scanning/scrolling through the high fidelity images. Can zoom in too. Clear voice over reporting with grid references facilitates learning as it allows reviewing images while listening to the report. Pithy tutorial helpful. Good to here Australian accents and great to see Australian based critical care resources again leading the field in critical care training and education. Highly desirable app for critical care trainees, especially those preparing for FACEM or CICM fellowship exams.
Must have!!!
This is a must have for all ICU trainees. I was looking fwd to it and got it on the first day of its release. There are a wide variety of CT images of chest, abdo, brain and spine. There is also an audio report that highlights the important findings in each case scenario. I find the concise tutorial at the end of each case very useful. This app is highly recommended. And it is just $9.99!
