Description

*** Cueist 2 now available! - with improved physics options, AI players and compatibility with newer devices including Apple TV 4K

The worldwide hit pool/snooker game first seen on the Apple TV arrives on iOS, and now playable in Virtual Reality!

Cueist brings the atmosphere and realism of your favourite cue sports to your mobile device.

8 Ball, 9 Ball, UK 8 Ball and Snooker games are included, along with custom pool tables to play them on.

Previously unseen in this type of game - jump shots, curve shots, screw shots and other spin shots are simple to attempt using only swipes, taps and device tilt.

Simple to attempt but tricky to perfect. Just like the real thing.

As well as human vs human matches, you can play against a variety of CPU controlled opponents of increasing skill levels. Or start a CPU vs CPU game so you can relax and concentrate on your camera work.

Looks great but the game mechanics are broken. The power imparted to a shot seems almost randomly correlated with the users choice. Makes any shot likely to be smashed. If you have no control over touch in a game of pool what is the point. The use of controller tilt to control cue orientation is poor - the coarseness and unreliability of tilt detection by the remore make this pretty frustrating to use. Some issues with physics too. Many times an object ball was struck by a finely cut glancing shot - cue ball velocity changed but object ball didnt budge. Conservation of momentum? Buffers also appear to be modelled as rigid solids - which they are not. Lots of potential and visually appealing but falls a fair way short in enjoyment.

Awesome graphics but cannot turn off aiming function

I would do 5 stars if the game allow me to turn off the aiming feature as I want to feel the real playing. Sadly no such option to do so. Otherwise, graphics is stunning and on the top. I shall definitely rate 5 stars if the next version allows me to turn off the aiming guide.

Great Graphics, Terrible Gameplay

Here are all the positives:
- Playable on Apple TV
- High quality graphics
- Game Controller compatible

And that's where it all ends quite suddenly when you start to play. None of the above positives can make up for this game's totally abhorrent gameplay.

Firstly, you can't even choose the difficulty of the CPU player's AI. That is just unforgivable. The CPU goes from being a pro to someone playing their first ever game within a few shots. It's quite laughable.

The spin of the cue ball is totally unrealistic. The results leave me scratching the ball often, even when it doesn't make sense. And trying to set spin on the cue ball to begin with is an Elm Street-Esque nightmare! It just won't stay where you left it and you'll be trying for ages to get it in the correct spot with the Nimbus controller.

The AI in this game suggests it has been developed by amateurs. If it was more expensive I'd be quite angry, but it really isn't even worth the $2.99AU that I've paid. 99c would be a fair price just for an Apple TV muck around game as poorly programmed as this.
