DAFNE Online 12+

Love this app, so helpful

This app is the best possible app for someone suffering Type 1 Diabetes, and managing it with the DAFNE principles. A log book, and carb counter in your hand, that links back to the DAFNE Online website in the UK. Simon has done an outstanding job on this app, and I have been using it since it first appeared here. The only quibble with the excellent current version, is the occasional crash. But all the data is safely stored at the DAFNE Online site, or backed up with your phone.

But given Simon's responsiveness to suggestions (through the website forums) and bug reports, I am sure this will be fixed in the short term.

Hang on people. As great a progression this may seem, there are some fundamental problems. Having just completed the DAFNE course, I find several aspects at odds with the course. The diary requires much repetitive data entry. The Specify Targets feature should reduce this need if I have already input my ratios. Specify Targets in Settings should also include default injection location per DAFNE principals and allow for input of BI info-depending on type of insulin, BI is once or twice a day. If I select auto calculate for QA, I expect it to also provide corrective doses. I expected to be able to refer to this app while dining out etc. However, I find the Carbohydrates part completely inadequate. DAFNE asks us to calculate on the basis of grams of carbohydrate per serve. This info is not even provided. This app could be a powerful tool for those that may care for diabetics. Less repetitive data input and more user targeted and practical 'fingertip' info would greatly benefit all concerned. Can't give it the rating it should deserve. It's an underachievement and adds little efficiency or additional quality to my life as a Diabetic.
