DiDi: Ride Hailing in China 4+

Great app, easy to use for an English speaker. Used the premier service many times on a recent trip to three Chinese cities and found the drivers were all friendly and professional, the cars were nice and all had working seatbelts. I found a couple of minor issues - for some reason I was unable to rate my trips, the first time I tried it came up with a page in Chinese that I couldn’t understand so I closed it - it would be good if this was in English when using the English interface. Then for other trips a blank page would come up instead of the rating page. The other issue was that when choosing a destination a number of options are listed after typing in the place you want to go, but depending on how long the address is, you can only see part of it as the text cuts off at the edge of the phone, making it quite easy to choose the wrong address, and I couldn’t find a way to bring up the whole address to check it. This happened to me and I chose a place in the opposite direction to where I wanted to go, as the first five words or so we’re the same. Luckily the driver was on the ball and questioned it and with my limited mandarin I was able to tell him where I actually wanted to go. He rang DiDi service centre and sorted it out for me. Excellent service and app.

I can say didi is a saviour in China where lot of taxi drivers are dishonest and don’t want to go by meter especially all trips from airport and so on. I must say didi has flaws like not accepting trips which are more than 100yuan when you only have the option to pay by cash. Alipay and wechat pay are still struggling with acceptance of overseas credit cards.
Didi app has option of entering international credit card details but the app crashes straight away once you enter the details and save them.

Again I would say big thanks to didi for making an English version which is so useful for foreigners like myself. Absolutely hate taxis and they smell like ashtrays. Every single taxi smells like ask trays and never been washed or cleaned in 10 years.

Easy to use. I used to like it until after several complaints came. It always plan a longer or slower road. If you know more about the road, the driver usually insists on following the planned road. They will use more distance and time to earn more, and then completely ignore your complaints. Before each use, you should know that you are a voluntary who is hunted by them. Good Luck.
