Description

Welcome to a paradise of sound and life.
Journey to the garden of sound and life, a mysterious and artistic place full of the extraordinary!

Eden Obscura, named after the historic camera obscura, is quite literally "light" entertainment; it uses the camera in your phone to create interactive visual effects while you jump around the screen gathering pollen to grow surreal artistic plants and landscapes in a world that is like no other. Vibrant colors combined with eclectic and sophisticated electronic music take you on an artistic and mind expanding journey, while at the same time it is quite simply a ton of fun to play.

================================

・An artistic style simulating nature and plant life, imagined through the random flow of ink dropped down a sheet of paper.

・Unique garden visuals that use the camera to synthesize light and your surroundings in realtime.

・A unique action experience born from the symphony of grooving techno/house sound and stylistic visuals.

================================

■Nominated in 3 categories as the first Japanese title by IGF Awards hosted by Game Developer Conference and selected as the committee choice award by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in the Art Festival Entertainment category, the world-acclaimed PixelJunk Eden takes on new life on mobile as Eden Obscura!

■Eden Obscura is a reimagining of the award-winning game PixelJunk Eden for mobile devices, and is once again helmed by international multimedia artist Baiyon, previously featured in the magazine Game Developer as one of 50 people to watch in the games industry.

■Winner at Busan Indie Connect Festival 2017

Great game

The game concept is great but the app keeps crashing and it has got to the stage where i cannot even open the app.

Good concept but...

This game is good in its idea. As a little character jumping and swinging around collecting pollen to pass levels, it can be relaxing and fun.
But passing the first level is near impossible. It doesn’t have a clear path of where you’re actually supposed to go. “Seed is charged, jump in!”
Is the seed visible? No. Does it show you where the seed is? No. It took me a long time and I didn’t even find the seed. The levels have time limits.
Controls are iffy and difficult to understand, even with the tutorial.
I would have loved this game if it was less confusing and it had better instruction than what was provided.

Fun and Quick Exploration Adventure

Its a great game to just mindlessly play and enjoy, the levels bursting with aesthetic and are adventurous.

BUT
It is very hard to learn, as the tutorial doesn’t really explain your aim or how to get to it.

Basically, you need to find and charge a “Spectra” with pollen. The spectra pulses and a large wave can be seen across the background every minute, which briefly tells you where to head for.

You then need to grow various plants by charging their seeds with pollen, so that you can jump across towards the spectra.

Controls are very well done and smooth, although a bit confusing to learn, again.
Flick the direction you want to jump and you’ll shoot there.

If you’re on a plant, you can spin around it in a circle to collect pollen using your silk string.

If you’re in mid air, you can hold down your finger to suck in some pollen.

Generally, it’s a great game once you understand what to do. Tutorials need to be improved, and maybe rewards need to be a bit more generous, but other than that this game is great for a quick three-minute “give your mind a break”.
