Description
Emerald Mine for iOS. Based on the Rocks N Diamonds codebase but only includes the Emerald Mine levels.

In Emerald Mine you play as a miner trapped deep underground. Your objective is to collect the minimum number of gems to open the exit portals. Explore the caves to find all the gems and try to avoid the hazards which include exploding bugs, tanks, aliens and acid pools. Be careful of falling boulders and debris as they will crush you.
Relive the classic Amiga game, Emerald Mine. This is a fan port of the game updated to play on all iOS devices. All classic art and sounds are included as well as the original levels for Emerald Mine 1, 2 and 3 plus some bonus levels from the Emerald Mine archive. In total there are more than 6,000 levels.
Swipe on the right half of the screen to move your character. Tap and hold on the left side then swipe on the right side to grab a nearby block.

Bad controls good game play
I like the different levels but it is very hard to move :/
Great game, lousy controls
The game is very similar to the old PC version - the garish fonts, the colours, the emeralds and diamonds, it was (and possibly could still be) a totally addictive game!
But the controls are simply TERRIBLE. Imagine having to use a joystick for delicate manoeuvring - but having to move the stick by pulling it with elastic bands! This game requires fast, precise movements, and the current controls provide almost the exact opposite.
A D-pad is desperately required. I'm not sure why this wasn't their first thought.
The uncontrollability means there's not much interest in struggling past the first few levels, and since these levels are completely different to the old PC version's levels, I'm not really interested in seeing what's ahead, unfortunately.
A D-pad update would definitely revive my interest, though (hint, hint)
Brings me back
Love this game, so many levels. Yes it's not as easy on your phone, but with the timer off and just skipping some of the levels that you need to be quick, it's fantastic!
