Ratings and Reviews
Back on top - then slipping
Updated review: Evernote seems to be getting back on it’s game with better speed and stability. New features being added now seem useful rather than glittery.
Still up there as my choice for keeping notes however it’s not yet back to the five stars it used to be.
Updated review: The latest versions and updates have felt clunky and performed at a fairly mediocre level. The updates have been improving version 8 however not enough. My biggest gripe is the lack of reliability and predictability. When I open the app I don't know it it's going to behave and I don't know if I'll be able to use it to the full extent of my expectations. Evernote is still my choice but for the first time since swapping to it many years ago I have started to investigate what other options are out there. Previous review: After a year of slipping from great to good (imo), Evernote is back with greater stability, a better extension and snappier operation. Very happy to see one of my most used apps in the lead again.
Enhancing Note-Taking with Smart Features and Advanced Functionality
This application stands out as an excellent choice for note-taking, offering all the essential features required for efficient and effective note management. Its intuitive interface and powerful functionality make it particularly well-suited for organising and tracking important information. It is highly recommended for users seeking a dependable and user-friendly solution for their note-keeping needs.
Notably, the application includes AI integrations, which add a layer of smart functionality. However, there is room for improvement. Enhanced AI search capabilities, a higher token limit for AI-assisted note editing, and the addition of advanced AI features would significantly elevate the user experience. Improved AI-driven search and data extraction would make the application even more powerful for users managing complex information.
Furthermore, introducing a built-in database system that could be seamlessly embedded within the notes would provide greater flexibility and enable more sophisticated information management.
How has it gotten worse
I’ve had and used Evernote for years at this point, because I found it to be a good note-keeping app. I’ve even upgraded to premium a few times. I did not like the change to the whole subscription-based model, but that’s fine. What’s not fine is how the app has somehow gotten worse since. I only have evernote on my iphone and my ipad, with most use on the phone and very infrequent on the ipad. Cross-device syncing isn’t the issue. But every now and again the app makes multiple MULTIPLE copies when I make a new note, because of syncing problems? I tolerated that, because whatever, I can just delete the half a dozen extra copies. What has genuinely p*ssed me off now is I had typed out a note the previous night and today it’s gone. I didn’t delete it, it’s not in the trash folder, and I even saw it as a thumbnail on the main page under ‘recent notes’ until it just. Disappeared. It wasn’t a short note, it was a draft for something I’m working on and now it’s gone into the ether because ???? How are you going to pester people to pay subscription for your note app yet decrease in quality like this while you do. Yeah, no, I’m not happy.
