Great natural language input

I purchased subscription to Fantastical for a month to give it a good try across both MacBook and phone.

Natural language input is impressive as expected. Viewing the calendar is “ok” but I found not always a clear as it could be (UI).

Like a lot of these Apple platform only apps they have limited usefulness as I work cross platform. And although cardhop is a nice utility, the subscription cost is not worth it to me despite being a senior professional with a heavy daily reliance on calendars. I found the meeting booking with busy time for invitees pokey in comparison to Google calendar’s booking capbility. I liked the Proposal of other times feature but found that business partners didn’t trust it and just contacted me to make an alternative time anyway. Perhaps that feature would need some white labeling capability so I could add my logo and text rather than Fantastical’s logo.

I like many aspects of the fantastical suite, but not enough to last the month on it, knowing the subscription was renewing. I never knew Fantastical 2, but can see people were attracted to the non subscription model. For me, I feel the cost of “ownership” (subscription cost) is too high for the features, so I’ve switched off and will look at other options. I wish them well and will review future versions, and would be even more attracted if they branched out beyond the Apple garden.

Trying to find something better

I’ve enjoyed trialing this app. But taking into consideration the pros and cons, it’s not working well enough for me to stick with it especially because of the cost. There are two main issues for me:
1) The little dots / bullet points are too small. Compared to iCal I’ve overlooked (missed/forgotten) more events in my calendar because it didn’t stand out enough. Why a bullet point for an event? The line style in iCal - and used across days in the horizontal - makes sense, as it communicates the duration of the event. Not to mention it’s easier to see.
2) Sometimes I want the word ‘with’ or the day of the week in the title of the event. There needs to be a way to override the predictive feature. I’ve spent way too long typing and re-typing disappeared event titles - or worse, thought the event was in my calendar, not realising the event has flown off to the wrong day.

Thank you for the feedback on the bullet points being too small. We will take this into consideration. Concerning the title of the event, if you want your title to stay as you type it in Fantastical, there are ways to do that. Please contact us at for more information.

Best Calendar app so far

I was not happy with iCal and tried several calendar app. I tried this app with initial hesitation due to paid for. However, I finally made to conclusion that this paid app is worth the money. I also bought the Mac version. So, now all of my apple devices practically synced with this app. Awesome!
One feature need to be added, IMO, is direct link to Waze in relation to address. I hope it will be included soon.
[update: Sep26,2020]: it seems the sync between my iPhone and MacBook works slowly recently. I found that emails I erased in MacBook still appears in my iPhone. It will gone until I refresh the app several times. It gives me falls alarms when I switch between devices.

Thank you!
