2 stars for laziness.

App functions quite well, not too many features I would ask to be added. However, foxtel’s tardiness in updating the app is inexcusable. All the other streaming services, including the free ones, updated their apps for the new iPad Pro dimension MONTHS ago, yet the company with the highest fees and the most money to play with still chooses to restrict its users to viewing on a small portion of the screen.

This is clearly a company that doesn’t care at all, as long as they get our money. The smart TV app has also been barely functional for almost a year now, and the PS4 app also has bugs that occur more often than not, and there are no signs of Foxtel making any effort to fix it. Their customer support resorts to flat out lying or ignoring the customers.

Everything that’s wrong with big businesses.

Good shows, awful app!

This is the first review I’ve written in years but I just had to voice how terrible the app is for a competitive streaming service that has a starting price more than double that of other apps like Netflix, Crunchyroll and Stan. It’s not even optimised for the iPad Pro so there’s this huge black bezel around the edge. The time and battery don’t go away either so they’re always up in the corners in bright white which is very distracting when watching any show with dim lighting. The in-app controls and layout is unintuitive, has no variety of subtitle options, no abilities for skipping backwards and forwards, nor any way to view other episodes and seasons while watching. No reviews, trailers, or easily accessible ways to track directors and cast members from a show or film. I subscribed for Game of Thrones season 8 and will definitely be cancelling right after. There are a lot of shows and movies I’d watch on here but the app is so awful I’d never use it again. Overpriced, unintuitive design, and ugly. I’m just glad the first ten days are at least free. I’ll only have to pay for the app for a month to see all six episodes.

Absolute rubbish

Why Foxtel Now is the worst app I’ve ever come across. I rarely write reviews, but over the years this app has grated on me enough to submit a review.

Here’s a brief run down of the numerous flaws encountered when simply trying to watch a show:

Foxtel now doesn’t sync your watched shows across devices, so when booting it up on your tv after having watched on another device it doesn’t remember the show or importantly where you stopped watching.
You then have to search for your show in the anytime section. Once you find your show, for reasons one can only begin to guess the seasons and episodes are not in chronological order (or any sensical order). So start looking through the list until you find your episode.
Once you’ve found your episode, start fast forwarding to where you think you remember you were up to. Good news, you can’t jump to a section to save time (like in Netflix), and you can only fast forward at 8x speed (which does not progressively fast forward). Which means if you were close to the end of an hour long show, you can watch it fast forward for 5 minutes! Also, you can’t tell what scene you are up to as the screen repeats the same scene when fast forwarding.
App crashes randomly when selecting a show to watch.
What an absolute disgrace of an app, in Foxtel style unfinished and rushed to market (much like iq3). Good thing it costs 3 times Netflix for the base package - good deal!!
