Description

The FreeStyle LibreLink app is approved for use with FreeStyle Libre and FreeStyle Libre 2 sensors. You can check your glucose by scanning your sensor with your phone. Now FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor users can get automatic glucose readings in the FreeStyle LibreLink app, updated every minute and also receive alarms when your glucose is low or high. [1]

You can use the FreeStyle LibreLink app to:

* View your current glucose reading, trend arrow and glucose history
* Receive low or high glucose alarms with FreeStyle Libre 2 sensors
* Add notes to track your food, insulin use, and exercise
* See reports, such as Time in Range and Daily Patterns
* Share your data with your doctor and family, with your permission

SMARTPHONE COMPATIBILITY
Compatibility may vary between phones and operating systems. Learn more about compatible phones at http://FreeStyleLibre.com.

USING YOUR APP AND READER WITH THE SAME SENSOR
Alarms can only be issued on your FreeStyle Libre 2 reader or your phone (not both). To receive alarms on your phone, you must start the sensor with the app. To receive alarms on your FreeStyle Libre 2 reader, you must start the sensor with your reader. Once the sensor has been started with the reader, you can also scan that sensor with your phone.

Remember that the app and reader do not share data with each other. For complete information on a device, scan your sensor every eight hours with that device; otherwise, your reports will not include all your data. You can upload and view data from all of your devices on LibreView.com.

Automatic Glucose Monitoring only works sometimes

Recently with the new update Abbott advertises automatic glucose monitoring, but this feature only works like 50-70% of the time.

Usually it looses connections overnight and I have to rescan; but recently half way through my current sensor my phone just completely lost the connection. While I can still manually scan, the sensor no longer sends anything automatically. Retapping doesn’t resume the function either. Sensor doesn’t show up in the Bluetooth devices like it once did.

While I appreciate the attempt of auto glucose monitoring, this functionality still needs work. Until it’s improved my review will stay at 3 stars.

Brilliant functionality, in need of iteration and UX improvement.

This technology is ground breaking for diabetes and pioneering getting this on apple. The app is functional, without getting into nitty gritty complaints the biggest UX issue I have is the graph axis’s have been designed with portrait mode in mind versus how diabetics usually interpret blood sugar graphs, including that from the LibreLink reader. Just because there’s real estate, it doesn’t mean it’s best used for the graph. The vertical axis is WAY over exaggerated and makes your peaks and troughs appear two to three time more severe then they do compared to how one normally views and interprets data or any normal graph layout. This causes an immense amount of anxiety and overreaction when testing using the app.

It’s to the point where I would rather carry the librelink then use the app, even though the integration and technology is excellent. This poor choice of design has had a large negative effect to myself and likely many others. Many overactive hypos or stress because graphs aren’t mean to be designed in portrait.

I founded a User Experience Design agency with a large team that designs for enterprise and understand how hard design can be. Perhaps it’s just me, but I doubt it. I would like your design team to make efforts to validate the graph design issues as I have seen other comments echoing the same issue. Thanks.

Thank you for the note - we will look in to this.

Pretty good

The colours that indicate in-range or out-of-range are a surprisingly helpful addition, compared to the reader. The sounds appear to be the same when there is a successful scan or an unsuccessful scan. This should be changed. Maybe these options could be configurable by the user (similar to the reader) so that, as a further option, you could set it to vibrate rather than make a sound. Which I think helps with privacy issues as some people don’t notice a vibrate but definitely notice a ‘beep’. The only real drawback is the inability to share the data between the reader and the app, so I’m trying to remember to scan both every 8 hours, as I find it easier to use the reader in the middle of the night or while driving (when you can’t touch your phone). So glad that Australians can now use this app.

Thank you for your comment. Try changing the Notifications sound volume in your Settings menu or putting your phone into vibrate mode. If you need further help, please contact us at 1800 801 478. Thank you.
