Funkbox contains all your favorite vintage drum machine sounds in one funky quirky little app! FunkBox is a full featured drum machine that you can use to compose, record and play your songs live. It has been used in the studio by electronic artists such as Gorillaz (on their album “The Fall”) Tom Middleton (Global Communications, Jedi Knights) and Steve Cobby (Fila Brazillia), and also by alternative/indie musicians such as tUnE-yArDs, Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, QOTSA), Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre), and Reggie Pace (Bon Iver, No BS Brass). It's also been used on stage by rock/pop musicians such as Joan Osborne and Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze) live in concert. Super useable drum machine
I play and record a bunch of different instruments but I’m nowhere near a competent (on time) drummer. For the styles I play (hip hop/soul), FunkBox allows me to create amazing grooves with timeless sounds. Honestly not sure why this app doesn’t have more reviews. It has so many of the classic drum machines that I grew up hearing.
Took me a while to figure out that if you tap on the image of the drum machine in the ‘Box’ tab, that you can build your own drum machine from the samples of each classic machine.
The only issue I have so far is that I can’t figure out (or it needs to be added) how to start/stop the drum machine while in any tab other than the ‘Funk’ tab.
Main reason I use an iPhone
It was the first app I purchased when I switched to Apple on the old iPhone 5 many years ago. I still use it regularly, and I still love the **** out of it.
So easy to use!!! 100% would purchase again.

Great Look & Amazing Sound!
It's really great to have a drum machine that has that vintage feel, but also accurately reproduces those classic sounds. You can even customize to sounds or even import and use your own samples.
This machine is also easy to navigate and easy to program, you can get straight in and create amazing beats. The recording option is great too, and you can export audio or midi files which is a real benefit.
There are also comprehensive midi options and the very handy background audio function that keeps the app running when you switch to your favorite synth app.
But it's really the great sound and ease of use that keeps me coming back for more.
