Should use gifsicle compression out of the box

I love giphy for previewing UI interactions. The only complaint I have is that I always need to separately pass exported GIFs through ImageOptim to get them down to a shareabe size.

According to ImageOptim their gifsicle compression is shaving up to 70%(!) off GIF size. Seems like this could be built-in to GIPHY Capture without a tonne of development effort.

Catalina Instructions

This app still works well but do note it needs "Screen Recording" permissions in Catalina:

System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy Tab → Screen Recording → Tick "GIPHY CAPTURE"

Limited

It has an easy interface but has a mysterious arbitrary limit of 30 seconds. I needed to capture a short instructional video that went for one minute, so this was useless.

A shame because it made the actual capture and saving to mp4 very easy. Why such an arbitrary limit? Seems unnecessary.
