Description

Glory Ages - Samurais will transport you to medieval Japan. In the game you get tactical Samurai sword battles, intelligent opponents, all kinds of equipment, numerous locations and even endless mode.

Special features

1. Artificial intelligence.
We worked a long time to make the enemies intelligent.
They can side-step you, circle, counterattack and block your blows during the fight. They react to the death of their soldiers and also gesticulate in various ways during the battle.

2. Numerous characters and weapons. Numerous realistic medieval Japanese weapons, many kinds of Japanese swords, huge arsenal of katanas and all kinds of characters with their own characteristics.

3. Large-scale tactical battles.
You have to think about how to beat your enemies, when to block their blows and when to attack. The fury that can save your life at a critical moment, instantly destroying large numbers of the enemy, accumulates during the fight. You can level up your battle experience or improve your character’s equipment.

4. Graphics and sound.
An incredible level of graphics and sound accompaniment. A dynamic environment in the background combined with thematic music.

5. Atmospheric environment.
Ten different locations under different weather conditions from winter cities to rainy swamps.

Worth playing

Unique and fun combat and this game starts at a good base starting point but could be even better with addition of a story/plot more combat and game mechanics as well.

Concept is great, but not mechanics.

The game is fun in general - highly detailed, interesting combat idea. But the mechanics in some parts can be improved for a better experience.

E.g. it costs you stamina when you land a blow, regardless parried/blocked by the enemy or not. But when an enemy does the same, it does not cost them any stamina. This makes the enemy (or enemies when surrounded) able to just spam you until you try and go for a dodge - which can be limiting if you are cornered - forcing you to be damaged at least once. It’d be nice if it costs them stamina too when they land a blow, providing a little breathing time before they initiate another attack sequence.

In addition, it would be great if settings are provided to adjust the position and size of each button. The current layout is, in my opinion, too close to the edge of screen.

Simple and Fun

When I finished watching Seven Samurai and I didn’t have a PS4 to play Ghost of Tsushima, I found EXACTLY what I was looking for. The combat is smooth and simple but nuanced and very cinematic. The animations and light design are satisfying and beautiful.

Sometimes the finishing move animation isn’t timed very well and the blood splatter happens way early and the kill can be less satisfying when I have to watch a mini clip instead of just cutting them. I think I’d prefer no finishing animation at all, it feels more samurai-like to just keep cutting through enemies.

I’d also really love some sort of ‘hardcore’ mode or ‘master’ mode where the player character and all the enemies are a one-hit kill, for intense fights.
