Editors’ Choice

You might get stuck the first time you play Gorogoa. But once the gears of your brain settle into the right configurations, you’ll see how smart this mix of art and perspective really is. Layers pile upon layers, doors transport you between realities, strange creatures and wild environments blend together into a fascinating interactive collage you’ll want to peel apart to discover what lies underneath.

Visually stunning and very clever puzzle game

I’m somewhat bemused by the reviews that insist there is no logic to this game. Because there is, but it requires players to think in a non euclidien way. I feel sorry for those who played and felt they just had to randomly tap things.

If you’ve played and loved Monument Valley, you’ll enjoy Gorogoa, the format is different, but it forces you to think in similar ways.

The game design is elegant and clever. Yes, there are challenging parts, it’s a puzzle game, and we’re adults. If you want hand holding, not the game for you. The plot is beautiful and sad, the graphics are just gorgeous. The music is a wonderful counterpoint without being distracting.

In combination, all these elements make a wonderfully memorable puzzle game that I think leaves most of us wanting more. It’s over too soon, I always want more to play.

No logic

I feel I have wasted my money on this game. There is no logic. I can only work games with logic and the aimless clicking to try to figure out what is going on is wasting my time. Yes the artwork is beautiful and the music soothing but I’m still getting a headache trying to work out what I am supposed to do. I click and it indicates I should zoom out again. When in reality I shouldn’t. What’s with that? I resorted to a walkthrough but that’s no fun because it means someone’s else is doing it for me. Then I find I have to do things in the right order and in a quick enough time but I can’t remember the sequence so I’m back to aimlessly clicking. I wish someone had told me this before I wasted my money. The game makes no sense.
