GuruShots: Photography Game 17+

Love the New Updates.

The app is great. The voting system is very well constructed and everything is quite well balanced. The new exposure auto fill system is much better.

There is very little to complain about. I do have some suggestions though:

1. Rankings are a bit weird. If two or more photos have the same number of votes they count as 1 photo in the rankings. It should instead work the same way race placings are constructed. Eg. If 2nd and 3rd tie then the 4th person should be ranked 4th (not 3rd). Please fix that.

2. Each competition should display the number of photo entrants. That would be really nice to see.

It’s a really amazing app though and I hope it continues to grow in popularity.

Great app to help Improve your photography

To new members or existing members
Very easy using app, would recommend using this app to improve or update your skills as a photographer. This app motivates you to get out and explore your backyard , neighbourhood , city or country you live in , or whilst on vacation , a special occasion etc. The app also helps improve your photos of people , animals , nature etc .
I started a few months ago and looking back at the very beginning of my portfolio until now I’ve made improvements with angles , lighting , focus and timing . You will learn all this with the topics you are given. I look at things differently now . What looks like a average rock in a garden , can look so much more extraordinary when you use depth of field , the right focus , use light to your best advantage etc . This applies to any object or subject . Then there is another way of learning , by voting for the members photos and seeing what they have done differently . When you don’t get much votes for the photos this is when you change / swap a photo to a better one or improve your skills and add a different photo .
Feedback to app creators
Just recently the auto fill has changed to individual topics , I liked it when auto fill did all the topics in one shot .
I think you should also add filters , cropping features to the app.
Other than that .. the app works well for me .

Not photography family friendly

Okay. So I have been playing GuruShots for a year or so. I have been enjoying it and learned a lot about photography. I am even in a group which has been so helpful and inspirational. If there is two people in the household who have seperate accounts, have different styles of photography and enter different challenges it can be great fun. But if you are a family with seperate accounts and you tend to enter the same sort of challenges, you are more then likely going to be targeted and have all accounts suspended until you tell GuruShots which single account you want left open. They will delete all others. Doesn’t seem to matter if you have proof that there are say four different people in the same household with four different accounts. So if you are a single person or a couple with totally different styles and love a challenge, GuruShots is worth having a look at. Otherwise…nah, don’t waste your time. You will only quit in frustration.

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed. However, we limit each user to one active GS account in order to keep things fair. Multiple active accounts may be deleted immediately if they are detected.
