"This is a fabulous game. I'm not kidding when I say that my daughter essentially learned all her letter sounds using First steps, with relatively minimal input from me! Great for parents to practise their letter sounds too."

Works perfectly for little readers

Both my 4 & 6 year olds love this app.
It has helped reinforce school taught reading techniques for my eldest, and provided an entry point for my youngest, who after a few months of having this app is now reading introductory reading books borrowed from a primary school.

More importantly then this however, is the fact they both love reading and this app has played a part in fostering that.

Developer Response ,

It's great to hear that the app is reinforcing what your children are learning at school in a fun and engaging way! We're so pleased it's helping them earn to read. Thanks for the review, Alex

This app taught my 3yr daughter to read

At 22 months of age, our daughter knew the alpha bet, by chance I stumbled upon this app and a few others.

All education apps have a main pathway, but they also have other distractions which deter children from the original path of the game, like mini games and buying accessories for a virtual home.

This app does not have these distractions which allow our toddler daughter to remain on the main path. Our daughter is nearly 3 1/2 and her reading skill is that of a 5 1/2 year old. I give a lot of credit to ‘Teach monster’ mainly due to the lack of distractions!

Simple is more ! Thanks guys, and well done.

My monsters love their monsters

My children have access to more than one app to help them read, but even though two of them are well beyond needing basic reading skills, they love to look after their monsters and help them read.
This app is engaging and encouraging. You couldn’t ask for much more.

Great, thanks for the review!
