Some work required

We just have one Roborock vacuum cleaner and it does an excellent job at a good price.

The app was fine for set up and it gets regular enhancements.

Areas for improvement:
- If you only have one device, you don’t want an app that takes three click everyone you open it to get to your vacuum controls. You need to be able to tailor the interface to suit your requirements. This is a common failing with home automation products.
- Sharing administration of the RoboRock isn’t working for us. My partner and I are both set up to share the RoboRock but I’m the only one getting alerts, e.g., when vacuuming is finished or the vacuum eats a sock. You can’t see who is sharing a device. It looks like unfinished work but could be a bug.
- Menus are cluttered. Get designers who aren’t engineers for this stuff.
- English translations are off in some places. More checking required by native speakers.
- Developers need to read Apple’s user interface guidelines. “OK” isn’t iOS.

Constantly broken, wigging out

Every update some feature gets broken. I can appreciate what XiaoMi are trying to do: delivering home automation via a smartphone app can't be easy. I suspect the frequent software releases are to keep up with new products they've developed. But its not much good if a) the product only works via the App, and b) the App doesn't really work.
Case in point: Xiao Mi's little clock (rectangular 11cm x 5cm) with paper white screen is beautiful, elegant &, as a shiftworker, just what I needed to keep track of the time in different rooms in the house. But in order to set the time, it must connect with this App.
Sounds easy, right?
Its not. There's always some problem in the App that makes simple tasks difficult or impossible. This release causes a warning (about no connection to internet, which is obviously wrong) to flash on & off. When its on the screen, you can't tap anything. It pops up 3 times per second. I can feel my phone warming in my hand: that's the battery being drained by the processor while this app is running.
All this ... just to set the time on a clock. I'm about ready to chuck the whole lot in the bin.

Clunky and clumsy

The vacuum is great, the app is woeful! Very clunky and slow app that hangs on screen regardless of speed of connection(currently on 100mb⬇️ 50mb⬆️ and 56ms ping to xiaomi server), button press locations are WAY off, it is an absolute nightmare to draw lines on the screen to dived rooms. Further to that point trying do draw a line between two walls will often fail after a room has already been split once, displaying a message stating the line must be as close to a wall as possible (the line was drawn on the bleeding wall!), you can only merge two rooms at a time. Room names can not have comma’s or spaces, and room management screen loads woefully slow and further doesn’t always save changes made. Compared to apps from other home automation companies this is an extremely poor experience. Examples of much smoother and easier to use apps, such as Grid Connect, Wiz connect and Phillips hue for example. Xiaomi really need to work on this. This was a very poor experience. Just can’t say that enough…
